What a fantastic Book Week Parade!

We loved seeing our students dressed as their favourite book characters and celebrating their love of reading.

A huge thank you to our families for the amazing costumes and support. The creativity, excitement and smiles made it a truly special day!

Big congrats to our girl’s netball team who took out the Region Competition and have earned their place at the Primary Girls State Netball Finals in September!

A big thank you to all the parents who supported the team by transporting students to and from the competition, and to Ms Thomas and Ms Wise for their fantastic coaching and support.

We are incredibly proud of you all — well done, and Good Luck for the State Netball Finals.

We kicked off Children’s Book Week Celebrations today with a very special author visit!

We were so lucky to welcome author Jane Godwin to our school! Jane shared where she gets her inspiration, how she plans and develops her stories, and how she works closely with illustrators to bring her books to life.

We also discovered just how long and thoughtful the process of writing a book can be!

The students loved meeting Jane, asking questions and having their books signed. A wonderful experience that has hopefully inspired some budding authors of our own!

Huge thanks to Ms Tesone for organising this amazing experience for us!

This is one we just had to share!

Please enjoy the Grade 5 choir singing to Mr Capp and Mr Ford on Principals’ Day!

Today, we had so much fun celebrating Mr Capp and Mr Ford!

They started their day by reading some lovely messages from staff, students and families.

They then participated in a learning walk where they visited all classrooms, only to discover that the lessons were all about them! There were fun stories, writing tasks, songs and even a choir performance!

We had a morning tea with heartfelt speeches and then finished the day with a hilarious quiz over the loud speaker!

Safe to say we all enjoyed celebrating our wonderful Principals and feel so lucky to have leaders like Mr Capp and Mr Ford at CHPS!

Friday the 7th of August is Principals’ Day. This year, CHPS has chosen to celebrate it tomorrow (Thursday the 6th of August).

This special day honours the hard work and dedication of school Principals and Assistant Principals across the state.

If you see Mr Capp and Mr Ford around the school over the next few days, please give them a shout-out, high five, thumbs up or thank-you for all that they do for our school!

Friday the 24th of July was Schools National Tree Day.

Over the past 30 years, millions of Australians have volunteered their time to do something good for the environment by planting a tree.

Yesterday, our wonderful parent volunteer Kate, along with Miss Ross and Ms James helped our students plant native shrubs which were kindly donated by the Kingston Council.

We look forward to nurturing these plants and seeing them grow!

Thanks again to Kate, our resident garden guru at CHPS, who ensures our vegetable and sensory gardens are maintained and enjoyed by our students.

We have been made aware that some parents & guardians are not receiving emails/push notifications/sms via Compass.

Please find below the information regarding tomorrows Industrial Action.

Dear parents and carers,

The Australian Education Union has called on its members to take strike action on Thursday 23rd of July 2026.

As we experienced in March, the vast majority of our teaching and education support staff will be taking strike action.

As a consequence, all school programs will be impacted and won’t be able to run as normal.

To assist with planning for supervision, if parents could advise the school if their child will be attending.

Please contact the school at [email protected]

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Students have been studying semi abstract artist Moira Hazel. They have been creating semi abstract landscapes that highlight their knowledge of perspective and pattern.

Students used acrylic paint to form background shapes over which they filled with patterns using paint pens.

Once dry students used white paint to mark out their plants and trees. They then added colour over the top before completing their landscapes with another layer of pattern details using the paint pens.

The end results are a beautiful design of eye popping colours and patterns!
