LOVED onboarding the amazing crew this morning. What a kind, warm, funny, energized team.

It’s incredibly humbling and affirming to see salon owners (thank you Reuben & Angela 🙏🏻❤️) investing so much into their teams, professionally and personally.

I'm thrilled to welcome you as newest client! It was fun logging on to the platform this morning - based on the the excitement and enthusiasm from the team, I know we're going to have HUGE fun!

Can't wait for our next sessions both online and in person! WOOO HOOO!! 🥳❤️⭐️🌏

"The most unprofitable item ever manufactured is an excuse." – John Mason

And one of the easiest ways to depict a person who owns their results is the absence of excuses. As we know (not as you would know), excuses don’t apply to retail and services businesses. It might be a tough market, making targets might be more challenging than normal, and customers coming through the front door may be a little less than usual, but focusing on and worse, justifying why sales are not happening, will simply create more of what we don’t want.

If we keep telling ourselves something is so, we force our brain to go looking for evidence to prove ourselves right, even to the point of not noticing the opposite (fact: see perceptual blindness). Take the true example of a retailer who was on the phone telling her boss how she had not made a target because there were “just no customers today”, all the while ignoring the very customer right in front of her.

This is the time to act; to give really exceptional service, to deepen customer relationships, and make meaningful connections. Through that trust you will find hidden opportunities and ideas to suggest, and you will give our customers a reason to stay and buy, and notice us above the “average” service that’s on offer by comparison.

So, train your brain to only go looking for the opportunities in front of you, and you might be surprised at how easily you can turn anything around! ⭐🌏

Did you know that even Roman generals needed a reminder to keep it real?

Back in ancient Rome, whenever a General celebrated a triumph, a servant would follow close behind, whispering a humble reminder: "Remember, you are mortal." Why, you ask? To keep them grounded amidst all the glory.

Isn’t that something? In the world of successful retail, where leadership is key, this ancient wisdom reminds us that staying grounded is just as important as achieving success. Whether we're coaching a new team member or leading a major product launch, let’s embrace humility as our personal leadership ingredient. By ourselves, we do nothing - it’s WITH our team that we succeed.

Think leading in retail is a walk in the park?

Hold onto your receipts, because if you haven’t worked in retail, then you will no doubt underestimate these real time heroes!

If you are a retail leader, you would know the role extends far beyond the traditional confines of management. We navigate a dynamic landscape, daily! It’s fast paced, every changing and filled with endless “moments” requiring quick decisions, and the ability to maintain heigh levels of personal optimism and true grit! To put it simply, it’s not for the faint hearted and it’s highly addictive!

As a retail leader, forecasting is just as crucial as daily operational efficiency. Each morning, as we prepare to open our doors, we’re not just setting up for a day of trade; we’re obsessed about sustained success.

And that’s just on a normal day … consider the multitasking finesse required during peak shopping hours: simultaneously analyzing performance metrics, providing ‘on-the-go’ feedback to the team, all while ensuring an exceptional customer experience - and often delivered by a manager barely in their 20’s.

Retail leadership, therefore, is far from straightforward, yet this crazily addictive career creates an incredible foundation for a future in, well, just about anything! The skill and attitude sets learnt are mind boggling; from last minute staff shortages, customer complaint handling, or maneuvering stock issues - it’s about vision, versatility, and vigor. Retail stores are not just places of purchase, but platforms for personal and professional growth.

So next time you walk past (or hopefully into) a retail store, just know that this business is probably being run by a young, passionate and committed human! ⭐🌏

It's not just HOW you say something, it's the WORDS that count too.

Have you ever been in a situation where a simple "thank you" felt less than genuine? Or maybe a "good job" didn't quite hit the mark? We've all been there. Every word and every interaction counts — intention is everything!

It's not just about being polite—it's about being specific and meaningful with our praise. When we communicate effectively, we build stronger, more positive teams. ⭐🌏

Sadly, most training initiatives are plug and play. Not at IGNITE Humans! We believe successful sales education (that produces powerful results) stems from synthesizing proven sales formulas, emotional & cognitive empathy, and a deep sense of personal awareness.

Retailers make such a difference in the lives of those they serve, so we need a powerful foundation to build from. We need systems and structure for the brain to follow so that consistent service is a habit, rather than a surprise. We need inspiration and purpose to know we are making a difference.

Maybe it’s time to do an overhaul of your sales process. And how do we know whether to or not? Just ask yourself, are you happy with the results you are producing? ⭐🌏

What’s one of the main blocks that stops us from getting what we want?

One of the main reasons why people break up?

… why we quit our jobs?
… why we don’t grow?
… why we don’t speak up?
… why we don’t sell more?
… why we don’t try new things?
… why we hold grudges?
… why we become bitter?

We imagine a feeling (in the future) we don’t want to feel. Those feelings are from our own internal chemical factory, and that occurs because of our thoughts.

What’s the worst thing that will happen?

If it’s just your heart beating faster, clammy hands, shortness of breath, go for it! That’s what GROWTH feels like. Just breathe deeply and step forward.

One day soon, awkward will be replaced with easy!

What are you going to step forward into? ⭐🌏

97% of customers do not return to the place of business to complain. They just never go back. What's worse than that? They tell on average 25 people, and those 25 tell at least another 5.

1 bad experience equals 125 bad impressions! (or potentially millions on social media!) ⭐️🌏

The best gift you can give yourself is courage.

The courage to see, hear, and absorb the parts of you that are unknown.

My Mum used to say, “Oh to see ourselves as others see us!”

We like the good stuff, but we can often repel the deeper, unknown truths about ourselves. We have our conscious (outer) self and our unconscious (inner) self, often referred to as our shadow (thanks Carl Jung). Just ‘try it on for size’.

It may hurt. You may resist. You may even dislike or attack & gossip about the person who shares their observations about us. If we want to truly grow, we need to let it all in - contemplate. If it’s true, let it be glue, and if it’s wrong, let it be gone.

Be curious about who you are underneath all the layers. Research. Read. Get coaching.

That’s doing the work. ⭐️🌏
