Whenever Semester 2 is fast approaching, the biggest concern many Year 11 & 12 parents start to verbalise is how to help their child get the best possible mark so that they can achieve a high enough ATAR to enter university.

Although exam results shouldn't be the only measure of academic success, it makes sense that it's the first thing most look at in terms of their child's performance. It is one of the key indicators that teachers and schools provide, after all.

But what if your child's poor exam results aren't the REAL problem? 🤔

What if it's something else?

Ijay was a 15-year-old boy with ADHD who didn’t seem to have much of a plan for his studies.

He was usually underprepared and stressed for his exams, leaving study and assignments at the last possible minute.

Steve and Cathy, Ijay's parents, tried to help, but he would get defensive about school and sneak around.

Then, Ijay unfortunately had a mind blank in his Term 3 English paper and failed three other subject exams. That’s when Steve and Cathy knew it was time to seek external support and reset his direction and decision-making before Years 11 and 12 began.

We worked with Ijay to reduce his feelings of overwhelm and improve his exam performance.

We also introduced a strategic approach to proactively organise his assessments and revisions, go through all the necessary exam preparations and maximise his knowledge retention.

By Term 4, Ijay increased his results by 30% across most subjects and almost doubled his Term 3 Maths result at 87%.

We also helped Steve and Cathy review and optimise Ijay’s strategy for Year 11. Ijay achieved steady assessment marks between 86-92% in his Term 1 exam block, including his highest Maths mark ever.

From getting stuck during exams and receiving low results, Ijay was able to rewrite a new operating system that was precisely coded to help him master his exams and achieve higher marks.

We couldn't be prouder of Ijay and how he flipped his narrative! 👏

Had an amazing discussion last night with parents on 'Teens, Technology & Higher Marks'! 🎉

This is why we love working with parents who are so committed to their child that they're willing to ask the hard questions and put in the work to support their child's future, knowing their child just hasn't seen the bigger picture yet.

And that shows outstanding leadership skills, wisdom and foresight.

If you were there with us last night, you're already a step closer to improving your child's technology use and learning — just in time for the next critical point of the school year. 😉

For those of you who missed the session, here's the ground we covered:

✅ Making time ‘visible’ when around YouTube and devices.

✅ How much ‘research’ is too much?

✅ Healthy technology options for effective use of study rest breaks.

✅ How do I know my child is studying effectively when all the textbooks are online?

✅ AI strategies that stimulate your child’s critical thinking skills rather than making them mindless consumers.

✅ How to create a Digital Guidance Plan

We know what you're thinking... unfortunately, there's no recording available for this one. You just had to be there to experience our candid talk about the digital family while respecting the privacy of our young people and families.

BUT we've got the next free event lined up for you this June — ‘Higher Marks & ATAR in Semester 2’, where we’ll show parents of Years 9-12 students how to use Semester 2 to build a strong Year 11 & 12 for ATAR success.

Don't miss the next session! Registrations have been moving FAST since we announced it last night. 😱

Study time today doesn’t look like it used to. 💻📱

For most students, it now happens with a laptop open, multiple tabs running and a phone within reach, which makes it harder for parents to tell whether real progress is being made or if 'study time' is just stretching out into mindless screen time that leads nowhere.

As intuitive as banning devices might feel, it usually backfires.

Technology is already embedded in how your child learns, so taking it away often creates more resistance and even slower progress when they do sit down to work.

A more effective approach is to create a clear way for your child to use their devices during study time.

Because when there’s structure around how technology is used, study time starts to translate into tangible results instead of feeling like effort without direction.

If you want a practical way to get this working at home, we’ve broken it down here: 👉
