💙 Winton ICPA Sport Days – What a Blessing! 💙

The Blackheath & Thornburgh College community has been truly blessed to be part of the Winton ICPA Sport Days, celebrating sport, friendship and the incredible spirit of our rural communities. 🌾🏆

And BTC staff and students have certainly been getting into the action! 😄

💃 Miss Budde and Mackenzie have been dancing up a storm!
🏐 Miss Shaye, Bella and Faith have been tearing up the netball court!
🏉 Mr Murphy and Ethan have been out on the field, passing the footy and getting stuck into OzTag!

Most importantly, it has been wonderful to see the students coming together embracing every opportunity, making new friends and enjoying sport in such a fantastic community setting.

Great kids, great sport and a great community — this is what rural education and community spirit is all about! 💙

It’s FINALS TIME and our Blackheath & Thornburgh College girls are ready to take to the diamond! 🔥

After an outstanding season of softball, our 13s, 15s and Opens teams have all earned their place in the Interschool Softball Finals — and now they need their biggest supporters on the sideline! 💪💙

🏐NETBALL GRANDFINALS - 2026🏐

What a way to finish the 2026 CTNA Netball season!

BTC had an outstanding six teams represented in the Grand Finals across three divisions, creating a sea of blue as our girls took to the court, battling it out against their peers for championship glory.

It was a fantastic night of netball, with some incredibly close contests, determined performances and plenty of moments to celebrate. Our players showed the qualities that make BTC sport so special — skill, teamwork, resilience, sportsmanship and character.

Across the 2026 season, 10 BTC teams took to the court in the CTNA competition, from our Moddies through to our Firsts. To have such strong representation across every age group is a fantastic reflection of the commitment, enthusiasm and talent within our netball program.

A huge thank you to every coach and manager who gave their time, energy and expertise throughout the season. Your encouragement and dedication make such a difference to our players.

And to our wonderful BTC parents and supporters — thank you for the sideline cheers, encouragement, transport, commitment and unwavering support throughout the season. 💙

Finally, a huge thank you to CTNA for providing such a fantastic competition and opportunity for our students to put their talent and character on display each week.

🏏 A BIG WEEK OF CRICKET AT BTC! 💙🏏

What a week of cricket it has been at Blackheath & Thornburgh College, with multiple games played each afternoon, plenty of runs and wickets, and some fantastic competitive cricket across all age groups!

There was plenty of action throughout the week, including a special clash with Cathedral School from Townsville, giving our students the opportunity to test themselves against quality opposition.

🏏 MONDAY
Our BTC 1st XI got the week off to a winning start, defeating CCC 2nds.

In the U15s, Cathedral defeated BTC in a thrilling final-over finish, with the match coming down to just a couple of runs. A fantastic contest that went right to the wire!

🏏 TUESDAY
The BTC 1st XI faced CCC 1st in another tough contest, with some fielding mistakes and a middle order batting collapse seeing the BTC team fall short in the run chase.

🏏 WEDNESDAY
The U15s continued their great season, with BTC defeating ASSG U15 after a dominant bowling display. The runs were then chased down in just five overs! 💥

Our U13s also secured a great win over ASSG U13, rounding out a strong afternoon of cricket.

The biggest news of the week is that ALL BTC teams have qualified for their respective Grand Finals! 💙

A fantastic reward for the consistency, hard work and improvement shown by our cricketers throughout the season.

Congratulations to all players, coaches and staff — now it’s time to finish the season strong!

🏆 Celebrating Trade Training Success! 🛠️👏

A huge congratulations to Matthew and Daniel, who were both recognised with a Highly Commended Award at the Trade Training Awards Celebration for their outstanding work in Certificate II Engineering Pathways! 🔧⚙️

This award recognises students who consistently demonstrate the qualities needed to succeed in the trade environment, including:

✅ Coming prepared and ready to learn
✅ Engaging with the course and contributing to content
✅ Following instructions from trainers and staff
✅ Demonstrating excellent attention to detail

Matthew and Daniel should be incredibly proud of this achievement. Their commitment, attitude and willingness to learn are fantastic examples of the opportunities that come from embracing practical learning and developing valuable industry skills.

Today we celebrate the incredible educators who nurture little minds, build big imaginations and help our youngest learners grow, learn and thrive. 💙✨

At BTC Kindy, our wonderful team plays such a vital role in supporting the well-being, learning and development of every child in their care.

A huge THANK YOU to Miss Sarah, Miss Amanda, Miss Zahra, Miss Georgia, Miss Lani and Miss Netty for the care, patience, creativity and love you bring to our Kindy community every day. 🥰🌱

A very special thank you to Katie from Ice Cream by Birdie, who dropped by this afternoon to serve up some tasty treats for our wonderful staff and students. Safe to say, there were plenty of happy and messy faces — and very few complaints about the ice cream! 😋🍨The students even got to check out the ice-cream bike and explore how it works.

What a way to finish the 2026 debating season! 🎤👏

Our Junior and Intermediate teams battled brilliantly in their final debates, just falling short in two incredibly close contests. But our Senior team rose to the occasion with a fantastic final debate victory, securing the points needed for Blackheath & Thornburgh College to be crowned the 2026 Champion School! 🏆

And this makes it THREE YEARS IN A ROW! 🎉💙

A remarkable achievement and a wonderful reflection of the skill, preparation, teamwork and determination shown by our debaters across the season.

A huge congratulations to all of our Junior, Intermediate and Senior competitors. You have represented BTC with confidence, pride and sportsmanship and should be incredibly proud of what you have achieved.

A massive thank you also to our incredible coaches and staff for the time, expertise and encouragement they have invested in our students.

✂️💙 ROCK THE CHOP! 💙✂️

Our amazing Blackheath & Thornburgh College students are ready to ROCK THE CHOP! 🎸💇‍♀️

On Wednesday, 9 September, a group of courageous BTC students will take the plunge and chop off their hair in support of the Cancer Council Ponytail Project — turning their hair into hope and raising vital funds to support people affected by cancer. 💙

🎯 Their goal: $8,000
🙌 And they are SO close!

Now they need the incredible BTC community to help push them over the line! Every donation, big or small, will make a difference and help these students reach their fundraising target.
