We had heaps of fun at the Wedderburn Careers Expo last term!

We were able to talk to many students about school based apprenticeship or traineeships (SBAT), as well as L2P and VICVICE!

To say we are proud is an understatement!

We are very excited to share that the North Central Trade Training Centre has been selected as a finalist in the 2026 Australian Training Awards – School Pathways to VET Award!

We have been working through the process for many months & to make it to the final three is meaningful acknowledgment of our deep commitment to excellence in vocational education & training.

It is incredibly rewarding to see the passion, dedication & hard work of our team recognised & celebrated at a national standard.

And when we say ‘team’ we are referring to our staff, students, partner schools, families, the NCLLEN, staff at DE regional level, our RTOs, employers & local industry. It’s a true community effort!

In November, we have the privilege of representing the NCTTC at the Australian Training Awards Gala Dinner in Sydney.

Last chance! Youthrive’s Rural Chances Scholarship is closing soon on October 19 2026.

You could be eligible for $5,000 if you’re a rural young person aged 16-24, studying a Cert III or above in 2027.

This scholarship aims to remove barriers to participation and help rural young people reach their full potential!

Last term, North Central LLEN funded special activities across local schools to mark R U OK? Day💛

At East Loddon P-12 College and Charlton College, students heard from Tom Dunn about his adventure trips and his work raising money for charity. Claudia and Pam also spoke with students about having meaningful conversations and how our screen use can impact the way we connect with others.

NCLLEN also funded student-led R U OK? Day events at St Arnaud Secondary College and Donald High School. Students applied for the funding from their SRC training back in March, giving them the opportunity to turn their ideas into something meaningful for their school communities. We’re proud of the SRC leaders who came together, took the initiative and created activities that encouraged connection and conversation across their schools!

We were thrilled with the turnout for the Intergenerational Project presentation at Loddon Place last Thursday.

Staff, residents and family members gathered to hear the young people reflect on their experiences and share what they learned throughout the project. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the connections they built and hear directly from the students about their time together.

Congratulations to Lucy who has officially commenced a Head Start School Based Apprenticeship with Philora working towards a Certificate III in Agriculture.
This opportunity enables Lucy to to combine her VCE VM studies at East Loddon P-12 College with on-the-job training, formal study and a pathway into a career post school.
Thank you Philora for providing a young person with this fantastic opportunity.

Youth Take Over: Our Students Take on the Forest! 🌳🪾

St Arnaud Secondary College🤝Forest Fire Management Victoria

Our Youth Take Over (YTO) project with Forest Fire Management Victoria (FFMVic) has wrapped up after an action packed third term of hands on learning and industry experiences.

Our VM Year 11 and 12 students spent one day each week working alongside the FFMVic team in St Arnaud, discovering the many roles involved in caring for Victoria’s forests and public land. From land management and conservation to planned burning, pest and w**d control, environmental monitoring and community safety, students gained a fascinating insight into the breadth of work happening behind the scenes.

The experience gave students the opportunity to build practical skills, connect with industry professionals and explore exciting career pathways in environmental and emergency management.

A huge congratulations to our students for their enthusiasm, curiosity and commitment throughout the project and a sincere thank you to the FFMVic team for opening the door to such a valuable and memorable learning experience!
