If you’re a parent who’s managing work, the kids, the house, and everyone else’s needs—but your mind never seems to switch off—then I want you to follow me here and comment the word CALM.

Because I’ve seen so many parents go from lying awake at night, constantly worrying, overthinking every decision, and wondering why everything feels so hard… to finally feeling calm, confident, and more like themselves again.

I’m Craig. I’m a former paramedic, hypnotherapist, and parent, and I’ve spent years helping people understand why their protective mind won’t let them relax—and what to do about it.

So if you’re tired of holding it all together while silently struggling on the inside, follow me and comment the word CALM.

It is a flash of panic that can hit you out of nowhere.

You are walking down the stairs, stepping off a curb, or just moving around the house, and your mind suddenly plays a vivid, terrifying movie of you falling.

When you are chronically exhausted, your nervous system operates on high alert. Because your baby is the center of your world, your brain treats everyday tasks—like walking down a hallway—as a high-stakes mission. It flashes the worst-case scenario to force your body to be extra cautious.

That frightening image isn't a premonition. It is actually your brain’s clumsy way of telling you to hold on a little tighter.

Your distress is the ultimate proof of how deeply you protect your little one. You are a safe parent. Your mind is just working overtime.

Save this for the next time your mind plays a scary movie. 🤍

It is a thought that can make your stomach completely drop.

You are driving, or sitting at home, and suddenly your mind flashes a terrifying image or a "what if" question that makes you feel sick.

When you are severely sleep-deprived and operating in survival mode, your nervous system is on constant high alert. Because your baby is the most precious thing in your world, your brain scans for the absolute worst things that could happen so it can prevent them.

That horrifying thought isn't a prediction. It isn't a sign that you are a bad parent.

It is actually an over-protective safety alarm. The fact that the thought scares you so deeply is the exact proof of how deeply you love and care for your child.

You are a safe parent. Your mind is just very, very tired.

Save this for the moments when the "what ifs" get too loud. 🤍

It is so easy to look around the park or look at your feed and feel like you missed a memo.

You see other mums who seem to be floating through the day, while your heart is racing and your mind is listing everything that could go wrong next.

But here is the truth your nervous system needs to hear: You are comparing your internal "High Alert" mode to their external mask.

You don't see their sleepless night, their quiet doubts, or the deep exhaustion they carry when the front door closes.

You aren't doing this wrong. You are just seeing their highlights while living your reality.

Save this to remind yourself that you are doing a wonderful job, exactly as you are tonight. 🤍

It feels incredibly frustrating.

You get through the day, handle the routine, and keep everything together. But the moment you finally sit down in the quiet, your mind starts racing and your chest feels tight.

When you are operating in survival mode, busyness acts like a protective shield. Your brain keeps you moving so you can get the job done.

But when the house finally goes quiet, your body drops its guard. That sudden wave of anxiety or restlessness isn't a sign that you are failing—it’s just the backlog of stress finally catching up to you.

Your body isn't broken. It is just finally trying to exhale.

“Why do I keep having these thoughts?”

One of the most common things new parents tell me is:

“My mind keeps showing me horrible scenarios and I don’t understand why.”

Maybe it’s dropping the baby.

Maybe it’s falling while carrying them.

Maybe it’s imagining something terrible happening when you’re not watching.

These thoughts can feel deeply unsettling.

What many parents don’t realise is that intrusive thoughts are incredibly common during parenthood. They often appear because your mind has become intensely focused on keeping your baby safe.

The problem isn’t usually the thought itself.

The problem is believing the thought means something about who you are.

A frightening thought does not mean you want it to happen.

In fact, the reason the thought feels so upsetting is often because it clashes so strongly with your values as a parent.

If you’ve experienced this, you are far from alone. 🤍

Why do I keep checking they’re breathing?

For many parents, it’s not really about the checking.

It’s about the fear.

The fear that something could happen.
The fear of missing something important.
The fear of not doing enough.

So even when your baby is safely asleep, your mind keeps asking:

“Just check one more time…”

If you’ve ever found yourself standing beside the cot again, you’re not the only parent who’s done it.

❤️ Sometimes the mind’s way of protecting us can become exhausting.

What if I don’t hear my baby crying?

Many parents worry about this.

What most people don’t realise is that your brain becomes highly sensitive to your baby’s sounds. Even while you’re asleep, your mind is often monitoring for the things that matter most.

That’s why many parents can sleep through traffic, wind, or household noise—but wake quickly when their baby stirs.

You don’t have to stay on high alert all night.

Your mind is already paying attention.

🤍 Save this for tonight if bedtime is when the worries get loud.
