People ask how my Leadership and Team Development training is different - the following thank-you will give you an idea...

"I was one of the people who at the start said something along the lines of I have done training before, and I was looking for something different. Looking back, I think that this was a reflection of feeling stuck and unmotivated as a result of a few very stressful years and poor management. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that the management had been so poor that it was traumatising.

Your style of adapting to what was in the room and allowing people to use the material in the moment, as well as the space between the sessions was what all that other training had been missing. I had been force-fed content without context or space to apply and reflect.

I also really appreciate the authenticity of the connections made in the training, we (the leadership team) have moved away from superficial and away from needing to be friends, to be able to be a team. Whilst there are still difficult conversations and situations to negotiate, we have come a long way. Whilst knowing about my peers’ families and holidays etc. is a valuable connection, the real gold is knowing how they like to work, how they think, what’s important in being able to communicate with them. That Sally will like a chat before we get down to business, but Ann and I will just get stuck right in 😊

Personally, I feel more confident in what I do know, which of course makes me more confident to be able to say what I don’t know and ask for support.

Looking forward to our coaching and working with you again in the future.

"Nothing will destroy a great employee like watching your employer tolerate and reward the bad ones."

How are you dealing with the bottom 15% employees?
The staff who:
- are not a good fit for the organisation's culture.
- blantantly avoid doing the job they are paid to do.
- do not demonstrate the organisation's values.
- bring a toxic attitude into the workplace and destroy team spirit.
- are never accountable for their actions and blame everyone else.
- are disrespectful to their colleagues and management.

When you don't address continuous poor performance or poor attitude in your team, you show up as a weak leader and you run the risk of losing the high performers. You also waste a lot of time and lose a lot of sleep!

Dealing with the bottom 15%ers takes courage, consistency, curiosity and calm.

Coaching Team Leaders, Supervisors and Managers in how to effectively manage the 'challenging' staff is one of my specialties. Let me know if you need assistance in this area.

To all of the parents on Zoom calls whose kids interrupt - it’s okay.

To all of you whose partners make a brief noise in the background while you’re talking to a colleague online - it’s okay.

To all of you worrying that your home office (aka kitchen, dining room, bedroom) isn’t flash - it’s okay.

During this crazy time we have needed to invite our bosses, staff, workmates, clients and some strangers into our home.

Let me repeat that last bit...

Into OUR home.

It is the place we have created for ourselves and in it, live the people who are most important to us.
..Most important to us.

So let’s just relax and stop worrying about how professional we look as we try to navigate the challenges of this current new world.

Focus on the positives.

Enjoy wearing your comfy pants and slippers - If that’s what you do.

Enjoy drinking your cuppa from your favourite cup.

Enjoy knowing your family are close by and safe with you.

Enjoy the reduced commute each day.

It’s okay. We aren’t judging you. We are all in this together.

Everything will be okay.

Yesterday I ran a team development workshop in Bathurst. I was referred by a senior staff member who completed my Authentic Leadership Program 5 Years ago when she was with another organisation. I have had no contact with her since.

She still has the training folder.
She still refers to its contents.
She told the HR manager that I was the person they should use for their training.

It’s incredibly rewarding to know that the work you did is still making a difference 5 years later!

I was pretty chuffed with the referral too 😀
