A little shower was never going to get in the way of a great day at camp!

Day Two brought plenty more of yesterday’s fun, with orienteering, camp activities, lots of laughs and a very competitive Camp Olympics to finish the night.

A few muddy shoes? Absolutely. A few tired bodies? Definitely. Plenty of happy kids? You bet.

Everyone is safe, settled and, after another huge day, very ready for an early night!

If Day One is anything to go by, Stage 3 camp is going to be VERY hard to top.

… and the fun was underway almost immediately.

Bags dumped, cabins claimed, friendships tested by who got which bunk, abseiling, fishing, archery tag, kayaking and plenty of yummy food all made their way onto the Day One agenda.

Lots of beautiful scenery, adventure, a little bravery, some healthy competition and, judging by the photos, a whole lot of fun.

Day One: absolutely nailed (pending the outcome of the night one sleep)

And somehow… we still have a lot more camp to go.

I honestly can’t remember a Book Week quite as well dressed, colourful or fun as this one!

The costumes were incredible, the kids absolutely loved it and the whole school had such a great buzz.

It was also fantastic to welcome so many families into our classrooms and showcase the amazing learning and teaching happening every day at Charlestown South.

We wonder if Book Week looked quite like this when you were at school…

The wait is over!

And our Stage 1 students were the very first down the slide!

After winning last week’s attendance competition, they earned first access to our brand new playground this morning and judging by these photos, it was absolutely worth the wait!

The excitement was huge. Climbing, exploring, laughing and racing (safely) from one part to the next, there were some VERY happy kids out there this morning and throughout the day.

A massive thank you to our amazing P&C for helping make this playground possible. Seeing our students enjoying it for the very first time was a pretty special moment.

And this was only the beginning...

The climbing bars and double slide are already a massive hit!

WE WON THE WHOLE THING!

Charlestown South has taken out the Overall School Point Score at the Eastlakes Zone Athletics Carnival!

That means, across all those races, jumps, throws and relays, our little school finished NUMBER ONE overall!

And the best part? It took the whole team to get us there.

Every student who competed played a part in building that winning point score. Every place mattered, every point mattered and every effort added to an incredible day for Charlestown South.

There were brilliant individual performances, personal bests, huge efforts and plenty of CSPS cheering from the sidelines.

To finish the carnival as Eastlakes Zone Overall Champions is something our athletes should be incredibly proud of.

What. A. Team.

Show our Zone Champions some love in the comments!

A quick reminder that our Education Week and Book Week celebrations are happening this Wednesday 19 August.

The Book Fair opens at 8:30am in the library, followed by open classrooms at 9:05am. Parents and carers are invited to join their child, see their learning space and enjoy a fun activity together.

Then it is costume time! Our parade begins at around 9:40am, and we cannot wait to see the school filled with favourite book characters. Costumes can be homemade, recycled, borrowed or new. The most important thing is joining in and having fun!

Please note that the planned playground opening will no longer take place.

Our P&C will be selling book-themed treats under the COLA before and after the parade while stocks last. Jelly cups, apple muffins, Mars Bar slice and lamingtons will be available for $1 or $2.

The Book Worm Guessing Competition is also back, with guesses available for $2. Cash and card payments will be accepted.

- 8:30am Book Fair
- 9:05am Open classrooms
- 9:40am Book Week Parade
- 10:30am Book Fair reopens
- 10:45am Early lunch

We look forward to opening our classrooms and sharing a fun morning with our families!

Wow, what a Day!!!

Our CSPS athletes put in a fantastic performance at the Eastlakes PSSA Zone Athletics Carnival on Friday, with some incredible results across the track and field.

A huge congratulations to the 14 Charlestown South students who have progressed through to the next level! 👏

There were plenty of highlights throughout the day.

Kyah had an incredible carnival, taking 1st place in all six of her multiclass events, including the 100m, 200m, 800m, long jump, shot put and discus.

Harrison J won both the Senior Boys 800m and 1500m, finished 2nd in the 200m and was also part of our winning relay team.

Pax and Trey produced some brilliant performances across their multiclass track and field events, collecting a stack of 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.

Harper claimed 1st place in the 11 Years Girls Discus.

Our Senior Boys 4 x 100m relay team of Alfie, Harrison, Will and Matej flew around the track to take 1st place in 57.00 seconds!

Congratulations also to Paxton, Chloe, Jasmine, Lulu, Myah, Will, Matej and Zara, who all earned places in the top three and progressed through with outstanding performances.

Most importantly, we were incredibly proud of the way all of our CSPS athletes competed, supported one another and represented our school throughout the day.
