🎙️ Last term, we were lucky to welcome Live FM to Iona for a hands-on radio workshop. Students learnt how to plan, create and deliver a student-led radio show, giving them the opportunity to share their ideas, discuss issues that matter to them, and interview key staff members as part of a panel discussion. It’s safe to say our students loved the experience. Take a look at what they got up to and hear some of the great interviews they recorded! https://online.flipbuilder.com/xjke/gdsk/

💙It was wonderful to support Cultura's recent School Holiday Program, welcoming children to Iona for a day of fun, creativity and connection.
Thank you to the staff and student volunteers from across Geelong, who helped make the day such a positive experience.

💙This term, our College focus is Leadership, inspired by our MacKillop House patron, Saint Mary MacKillop. As part of this focus, we are excited to highlight the new MacKillop House crest, which reflects the qualities Mary MacKillop demonstrated throughout her life.

Mary MacKillop’s leadership was grounded in faith, perseverance and a deep desire to create opportunities for others. Her example reminds us that true leadership is about making a positive difference in the lives of those around us.

The symbols within the MacKillop House crest hold special meaning. The Wind represents movement, purpose and direction, reflecting Mary MacKillop’s determination to lead with clarity and integrity. The You Yangs recognise the culturally significant landscape that surrounds and connects our Iona community to Country.

We look forward to seeing our students lead with courage, compassion and purpose this term!

Congratulations to our Foundation Principal, Damian McKew, who was celebrated last night at the Catholic Secondary Principals Australia (CaSPA) Conference for 20 years of principalship across Trinity College, Clonard College and Iona College.

We are incredibly proud and so lucky to have Damian leading our Iona community. You have positively impacted the lives of so many families and the communities you have served.

Damian is a leader we are blessed to follow!

For five decades, NAIDOC Week has celebrated the voices of our communities - steady, unapologetic and proud. Each year, its themes have called for truth, celebrated culture, honoured resistance, and reminded the nation of who we are.
Fifty Years of Deadly marks a milestone. It’s a tribute to the people who built this movement. The Elders who stood firm, the organisers who made space, the artists who turned resistance into expression and the communities who keep showing up, year after year.

NAIDOC has always been more than a week - it’s a platform, a protest, a celebration, and a statement of survival.

🔬 A team of 19 Year 9 and 10 students attended the annual Science and Engineering Challenge at Deakin’s Waurn Pond Campus. This proved a dynamic, hands-on learning experience that combined competition, creativity and STEM education. A special mention to our individual winners of the ecohabitech, wind turbine and electrocity challenges. A fitting excursion on what was the International Day for Women in Engineering.
