Mount View High School's official page Mount View High School began in 1985 as a fully demountable school and entered permanent buildings in 1991.

It serves the Cessnock community living to the west of Vincent Street and the villages to the north and west of Cessnock. Modern buildings and a tree-studded, hillside site make for a very pleasant physical environment for students and staff. A central role of the school is to help the students through the period of change which engulfs the community as it undergoes transition from a mining commun

OMG… MVHS, what an incredible effort! I am so proud to share that our school community raised a whopping $656.05 for the Beanie for Brain Cancer fundraiser. A huge thank you to our Wellbeing and Leadership teams, our fantastic student leaders, Miss Stewart for organising the coffee van, and Mrs Rope for their support in making the day such a success. A very special mention goes to Jodie Scheffler, Head Teacher Wellbeing, for her outstanding organisation and coordination of this event. A special shout out also goes to Ms Tsakissiris, Mr Fiorenza and Kane for bravely taking on the ice dump challenge in the name of a great cause. Thank you to every student, staff member and family who donated, bought a ribbon, grabbed a coffee or cheered from the sidelines. Your generosity and school spirit make Mount View High School a very special place. 🩵

Volunteers from the MVHS Leo's and the KuNarr Faculty had a wonderful morning of games and activities with the residents of Calvary Cessnock Residential Aged Care. Students enjoyed learning how to play dominoes and creating artworks with the residents. We look forward to visiting again!

🏉 DV CUP SUCCESS 🏉
A huge congratulations to our Under 17s Boys and Girls teams who recently represented our school with pride at the DV Cup.

The boys had an outstanding tournament, showcasing their skill, determination, and teamwork on their way to the Grand Final. While they fell just short of taking home the title, they should be incredibly proud of their efforts and the way they represented the school throughout the competition.

Our girls also had a fantastic tournament, competing with great spirit, resilience, and sportsmanship. They played some excellent football and continued to improve with every game, making the school proud with their performances.

A special congratulations goes to the following students who were recognised for their exceptional performances by being selected in the Team of the Tournament for their respective competitions:
Madi Fairlie
Amber Hayes
Cooper Hayes
Liam Wright

English & Drama isn't always essays and performing! Sometimes it's about picture books and designing costumes.

Our Year 7 students have been working on building their skills in deconstructing visual images and creating analytical TEEEC paragraphs. With a range of picture books such as Varmits, The Rabbits, Open Your Heart to Country, Gorilla and Piggybook being studied in the classroom, students have enjoyed a different view of what English is. While our Year 9 Drama students have been taking a look behind the scenes and stage. Students have created a range of costume, stage and lighting/sound designs for the play "Ruby Moon", putting their own spin on this well known play.

Congratulations to all of our Year 7 and Year 9 Drama students for their hard work and efforts this term. Your teachers have enjoyed reading your work and seeing your creativity.
