Our last meeting saw an Anzac Day theme - including a range of interesting Table Topics from Greg. Laurel delighted us with an entertaining speech from the perspective of a pet dog (yes, it was very entertaining!), and Sandra delivered an extended speech about how she grew her leadership skills while navigating the world of Zoom meetings during COVID.

A great meeting, made even better by our visitors Jess, Amanda and Hamon.

Our own Jeremy Brew represented our club and Area 24 at the final Eastern Division Contests on Saturday 28 March at Wallsend Diggers. Jeremy competed very well, taking 1st place in both the Evaluation and Humorous Speech Contests, as well as 2nd place in the International Speech Contest. Jeremy will now compete in the District finals of the Evaluation and Humorous Speech Contests at the last ever District 90 Annual Conference at Penrith Panthers on 15-17 May 2026. We had a wonderful meeting on Monday night - with Jenny delivering a speech about what her European adventures taught her - along with an interesting mini debate hosted by Sandra as to “Whether we should still shake hands to greet each other”. The variety of activities like these are a great challenge to help us think on our feet and deliver structured answers. Gotta love Toastmasters!

Beat Table Topic response of the night went to Sandra, and Best Evaluation went to Jeremy Brew.

That’s what we do at Blue Gum Flat Toastmasters.
We’re a supportive, welcoming group which meets at Ourimbah RSL on the Central Coast, and we meet twice a month to practice and improve:
• Public speaking
• Impromptu speaking (thinking on your feet)
• Leadership skills
• Clear, structured communication
• Constructive feedback
You don’t need experience.
You don’t need to be confident already.
You don’t even need to speak on your first visit.
Many of our members joined because they felt nervous or unsure. Over time, they’ve grown into capable speakers and confident leaders, both at work and in life.

A very successful Area 24 Contest Day for Blue Gum Flat Toastmasters Club on Saturday with our own Jeremy Brew winning all 4 contests - International Speech, Evaluation, Table Topics, and Humorous Speech!
