First Term—Done!

The first school term is behind us, and now it’s time to breathe, rest… and maybe reflect a little.

As the Easter Holidays begin, it’s a perfect moment to ask:

How is math feeling in your home right now?
How’s your child feeling about math?

Is it flowing? Or are there moments of frustration, hesitation, or even that little voice saying, “I think I need some help…”
You're not alone!

If your child could use support, encouragement, or a fresh approach to mathematics, I’m here to help.

We offer 1:1 math tutoring sessions designed especially with homeschooling families in mind. We use the Waldorf approach and inspired by Jamie York’s thoughtful, soulful way of teaching math- bringing clarity, confidence, and even joy to a subject that often causes stress.

We focus on understanding, not just answers.

We use creative thinking, rhythm, and story to make math come alive.

And most importantly, we work in a calm, supportive space where every student can grow at their own pace.

Whether it’s catching up or moving ahead, now is a good time to give your child a boost towards the rest of the semester.

In-person & online options available.

Limited spots for Term 2 – message now to chat or book a time.

Let’s help math feel meaningful, manageable, and even magical.

Math is Human. Math is Art.

Most people think of math as a collection of blind procedures used to solve meaningless problems. But what if math could be more? What if it could become an adventure, a way to explore the profound beauty of being human?

At the heart of Jamie York Waldorf's approach, math isn’t just about practicality—it’s about creativity, discovery, and connection. Math, like music, drama, painting, and literature, is an art. Through these subjects, we uncover what it truly means to be human.

We believe education should ignite curiosity and inspire a love for learning. Imagine math lessons where students feel challenged, excited, and connected to the bigger picture.

As an experienced educator passionate about the Jamie York Waldorf methodology, I am excited to offer personalised online tutoring sessions. My goal is to guide students through the wonders of math, helping them discover its beauty and relevance in our lives.
If you're interested in enriching your or your child's mathematical journey, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Transform Your Child's School Year: Identify and Bridge Learning Gaps with Expert Math Tutoring! 🎓🔍

With the return to school now in full swing you may be hearing comments of apprehension, seeing resistance and feeling discomfort from your child when it comes to maths.

This does not have to be how your child experiences maths.
My one-to-one maths tutoring and teaching are tailored to the needs of each student and their learning preferences. I uncover the gaps in their foundational knowledge and work up from there.

As a qualified teacher, I know how challenging it is to provide this level of attention in a classroom environment and love that I can now support children 1:1 to develop their strengths and reframe how they see maths.

It can transform their limiting beliefs about their capability and support them to grow in confidence.

I offer 1:1 Maths Tutoring and Maths with Movement Classes online and in Cedar Creek.

What is Maths with Movement?

It's the perfect combination of practical maths and problem-solving activities combined with fun movement and physical games. The result is an energised and excited student with their left and right brain activated and engaged.

The power of play

My recent exploration into Ikigai and the research into the centurions in the blue zones has made me realise how play is integral to our health and wellbeing.

A playful lightheartedness can transform any task into one of play, from weeding in the gardening to cooking a meal.
I incorporate maths in my play with my sons and students.

Quick thinking and calculating on the go with each hit of the paddle in table tennis or spike in volleyball. I can stimulate critical thinking to help those children who struggle with focus in traditional learning environments to thrive.

I intuitively transition from problem-solving at the study table to the ping-pong table as I consciously witness how my students engage in the session.

The reward is seeing their confidence and self-awareness gradually improve along with their self-regulation and ability to articulate what they need.

I now hear, ‘Jacek can we go play with the chickens for a bit and come back to this after?’ They continue to ponder on the maths question and it seems as though whilst they play with and chase after the chickens their brain comes up with the answers. They may say ‘OK I’m done, let’s go back up.’

With this path less travelled, in our education system, this student is able to talk me through their reasoning and solve the problem that stumped them only 15 minutes earlier.

Play allows us to tap into a part of ourselves that we seldom do, our inner child.

Through play, a balloon can turn into a soccer ball, and a long string of washed-up seaweed can turn into a skipping rope and transport us back to childhood.

It’s the playful approach to which we attend to the activity and our conscious engagement that creates that spark of magic.

Where time dissolves and you are in the moment. Vividly aware of the ball hurtling towards you and the adrenaline coursing through your veins as you dive to spike.

Play can stimulate all the chemicals in the pharmacy that make up our bodies and make us feel alive.

For me though, the ultimate benefit of play is connection and release of tension. It is healing and creates memories of laughter and fun that last a lifetime.

My intention this holiday is to revel in my children’s relentless desire to play, their ability to shut off from all that is happening around them and be completely absorbed by the game.

With no attachment to an end goal or outcome, just a deep desire to play and be playful.

How do you incorporate play into your homeschool rhythm?

Do you have a NeuroDivergent student who is not enjoying Maths worksheets and struggling to stay engaged in your maths curriculum?

I have had several requests to support families with children that require variety, fun and alternative maths delivery to stay focused and interested.

These creative and abstract thinkers love combining maths with ping pong, art, and the dog therapy they get from Diego and Gracie whilst learning with me.

If you need support with your homeschool maths program reach out to find out how my 1:1 Maths Classes are tailored to your child's level and customised to suit their interests and capability.
