🎨 Clay on Country Excursion

A group of our Ngaarr Dhuwi girls recently had the opportunity to visit the Clay on Country exhibition.

The excursion gave students the chance to explore a range of ceramic works and learn more about the connections between Country, culture, identity and art.

It was a wonderful opportunity for the girls to spend time together, engage with the artworks and experience First Nations art and culture outside the classroom.

The girls also had the chance to get creative with clay themselves! Keep an eye out for a follow-up post showcasing their clay creations later in the term. 👀🎨

✨Yr 10 Yutiliko Camp Highlights

Last week, Year 10 students had the opportunity to attend the Yutiliko Camp, where they developed their leadership skills and collaborated with students from Gorokan High School.

Throughout the camp, students took part in a range of activities focused on building leadership, resilience, teamwork and communication skills. It was a great opportunity to challenge themselves, make new connections and work together.

Our students had a fantastic time and represented Swansea High School with pride and positivity throughout the camp.

Congratulations to Indi, Sophie and Myla, who have earned the much-coveted title of Chefs of the Week! 👏

The girls came prepared with their aprons and containers and showed excellent time management while making their delicious chocolate chip cookies. They also took great pride in their workspace, making sure everything was left clean and tidy.

A big shoutout to the whole class for their fantastic teamwork and willingness to help each other out throughout the lesson.

💼 Year 10 Work Experience - Local Businesses Wanted!

We are inviting local businesses to register their interest in hosting a Year 10 student for Work Experience next term.

Last year’s Work Experience program was a great success, with our students gaining valuable experience across a range of local workplaces. We’re hoping to make this year just as successful!

👏Year 7 Debating Team

Congratulations to our Year 7 Debating Team, who competed in their final round of the Premier’s Debating Challenge against Northlakes High School!

While they didn’t come away with the win, the girls did a fantastic job in a very close debate. They showed confidence, teamwork and worked hard to develop and defend their arguments.

It has been great to see their confidence and debating skills grow throughout their first year of competition.

🎤 Future Leaders at SHS!

Today we had the privilege of hearing from our students who delivered School Captain speeches for 2027.

Each student did a beautiful job sharing their ideas, values and hopes for our school community. Whilst speaking clearly, positively and with courage.

We are incredibly proud of every student who put themselves forward for a leadership position. Standing up in front of your peers takes confidence and courage, and you all represented yourselves wonderfully. 👏
