Yesterday marks the end of a special chapter as we say goodbye to Nido Early School Caversham. 💚

From Monday, 3 August, we will begin our exciting new journey as Busy Bees at Caversham. 🐝

Thank you to every child, family, educator and community member who has shared in our journey. While our name is changing, our familiar educators and commitment to providing a warm, nurturing environment will remain the same.

Today, our Kinder children had the pleasure of welcoming students and staff from Caversham Valley Primary School for a wonderful ukulele performance and sing-along.

The children had so much fun while developing their listening skills, confidence, language, coordination, and appreciation of music through this engaging experience.

A big thank you to the students and staff at Caversham Valley Primary School for sharing your time and talents with us. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Today in Kinder we proudly began celebrating National Reconciliation Week 2026 and explored this year’s theme, “All In.”

We started with an Acknowledgement of Country before listening to a story about the Whadjuk Noongar people and exploring traditional music and storytelling together. The children were deeply engaged as they shared their own stories, ideas, and connections with one another.

Together, we explored how stories, symbols, and culture can represent all of us our families, identities, and communities while learning about the importance of respect, belonging, and connection.

- Biggest Morning Tea -

Today at Nido Early School Caversham we proudly connected with our local community by celebrating Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.

Our children loved being part of the experience, helping to prepare homemade morning tea boxes to share with our colleagues and community. Together we made delicious banana muffins, homemade muesli and jams, with the children showing so much enthusiasm, care and excitement throughout the process.

It was such a lovely opportunity to come together, build connections and celebrate kindness, generosity and community spirit. Thank you to everyone who helped make today so special!

At Nido Caversham, we believe every part of the day is an opportunity for children to learn, grow, and thrive and mealtimes are no exception.

Our children enjoy delicious, home-cooked meals designed by a nutritionist and prepared fresh by our chefs each day. In our Kinder room, children are supported to independently serve their own food, building confidence, autonomy, and essential life skills.

Mealtimes are also a special opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and strengthen relationships sharing conversations, practicing social skills, and enjoying time together as a community.

Today on ANZAC Day, we take a moment to reflect and remember together as a community

In the lead-up to today, our Kinder children explored what ANZAC Day means and why it is important to remember, following the story of Little Ted to support their understanding in a gentle and age-appropriate way. They also enjoyed helping our chef make traditional ANZAC biscuits, sharing in a meaningful tradition.

Our toddlers joined in through creative poppy art, exploring colour and expressing their learning in their own special ways.

We remember and honour all those who have served, and feel proud to share these moments of learning, respect, and connection with our Nido community.

- Goodbye Chicks -

Today we said a warm goodbye to our little chicks as they begin their next adventure in a new home with one of our families

Over the past few weeks, the children have absolutely loved being part of the chicks’ journey from watching them hatch, to noticing how they grew and changed each day. They took great pride in helping to care for them, including feeding them and refilling their water, building a strong sense of responsibility and connection.

Even our littlest friends joined in this special experience, each having a gentle hold and learning how to care for living things with kindness and respect. These moments have been so meaningful, supporting empathy, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of the life cycle.

We will miss our fluffy friends, but we are so excited for them as they settle into their new home.

-Our learning journey continues at Nido Caversham -

Following on from our recent post, we are so excited to share that our chicks have begun hatching, bringing so much joy and excitement across all age groups.

The children have been eagerly visiting the incubator, counting each new arrival and watching closely as the chicks emerge, creating meaningful opportunities to explore the life cycle in a real and engaging way.

It has been beautiful to see the curiosity, connection, and wonder this experience has sparked across our service.
