LADIES, YOUR BODY NEEDS MORE THAN JUST PROTEIN! 👀👏

Apparently, every woman over 40 needs protein shakes, protein bars, protein powder and now protein water… WTF 🤷‍♀️😂 I’m just about to turn 49. . . !!!

Yes, protein is important, especially as we age. But can we stop acting like it’s the answer to EVERYTHING?

🥑 What about healthy fats?
🍎 What about fibre and gut health?
🍞 What about carbohydrates for energy?
🥦 What about variety and balance?
💥 MORE PROTEIN DOESN’T AUTOMATICALLY MEAN BETTER RESULTS!

You still need balanced nutrition, enough food to support your lifestyle and resistance training to build and maintain muscle.

After 20+ years in the fitness industry, I’m a big believer in keeping things simple.

✔️ Eat enough protein.
✔️ Get your fibre.
✔️ Don’t fear carbs.
✔️ Lift weights.
✔️ Stop chasing every nutrition trend!
You don’t need a cupboard full of supplements or to turn every meal into a protein-loading competition. 😂

At Absonfitness, it’s about balance, consistency and finding an approach that works for LIFE. ❤️

EAT MORE. TRAIN LESS. LOOK GREAT.

Who’s with me? 🙋‍♀️

CAN WE PLEASE STOP MAKING PROTEIN THE ANSWER TO EVERYTHING? 🤦‍♀️

Especially when it comes to women in perimenopause and menopause!

Protein this. Protein that. Add more protein. Have a protein shake. Eat more protein bars. Now we’ve got protein water… WTF 🤷‍♀️😂

Yes, protein is important. Absolutely! It helps maintain muscle, supports recovery and becomes increasingly important as we age.

BUT MORE ISN’T ALWAYS BETTER.

If you’re already eating enough protein throughout the day, adding extra shakes, bars and high-protein snacks without considering your overall food intake could mean you’re consuming more calories than your body needs.

And ladies, can we give FIBRE AND CARBOHYDRATES the attention they deserve? 👏

🍎 Fibre helps support gut health, digestion, fullness and overall health.

🍞 Carbohydrates provide energy for everyday life, training and recovery. They are NOT the enemy!

💪 Protein helps maintain and build muscle, particularly when combined with resistance training.

It’s not about choosing one over the other. It’s about getting the balance right!

As women move through perimenopause and menopause, we need to stop chasing the latest nutrition trend and start looking at the bigger picture.

✔️ Eat enough protein, not just more protein.
✔️ Get plenty of fibre.
✔️ Don’t be afraid of carbohydrates.
✔️ Strength train consistently.
✔️ Look at your overall food intake, not just one nutrient.

After more than 20 years in the fitness industry, one thing I know is that there is no magic food, supplement or macronutrient that fixes everything.

At Absonfitness, I’m all about keeping things simple, sustainable and realistic. You don’t need to live on protein shakes or cut out carbs to look after your body as you get older.

EAT MORE. TRAIN LESS. LOOK GREAT. ❤️

Let’s stop overcomplicating nutrition and start focusing on what our bodies actually need!

Saturday night reset 🛁🕯️🎶

After PT yesterday and 90 minutes of Bikram yoga, my body is ready for a little TLC! 🧘🏼‍♀️ An Epsom salt bath, candles, music and some much-needed time to slow down and recharge. ✨

Sometimes you need to push yourself, and sometimes you need to just relax and let your body recover. ❤️

New toy to play with! 🤓💍

I’ve just got myself a smart ring to track my sleep and daily steps — and after my first night, I’m pretty impressed with the sleep stats! 😴🙌🏼

I’m not overly concerned about how many steps I’m doing, but I’m actually really curious to see what the average person is clocking up each day. 👣

And sleep… now that’s the interesting one! 🤔 What are you actually looking at when you track your sleep? Deep sleep, REM, awake time, resting heart rate…?

I’d love to hear what you guys are seeing on your trackers and what you pay the most attention to!

Tell me your daily step average and your sleep stats! 👇🏼
