In June 2004 the Hon. Steve Bracks, then Premier of Victoria, visited Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, one of the world's leading centres of healing, teaching and research. The focus of his visit was to study mass casualty trauma management – specifically, how Hadassah had developed and implemented strategies to deal with man-made and natural mass casualty events. AUSiMED is delighted to welcome Israeli Dr Naama Pines-Shwartz to Australia. Naama, a senior paediatric emergency medicine physician, will participate in the International Medical Toxicology Fellowship the Austin Hospital, gaining skills urgently needed in Israel, where toxicology specialists are few and no local training programs exist. This Fellowship is supported by AUSiMED, the Lowy Foundation and Hadassah Australia.

AUSiMED proudly celebrates Dr Gleb Kornev’s recent completion of his Melanoma Fellowship at Peter Mac. Gleb is now establishing a new Melanoma and Skin Cancer Unit at Shaari Zedek in Jerusalem.
