❤️ RESTART A HEART DAY | 16 OCTOBER ❤️
Would you know what to do if someone next to you went into cardiac arrest?
Early CPR and defibrillation can improve their chance of survival. It could be a family member, a friend, a colleague or someone you’ve never met.
Around 30,000 people in Australia and New Zealand experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest every year. Every minute without CPR or defibrillation can significantly reduce their chance of survival.
The reality? Most out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen at home. It could be a family member, a friend, a colleague or someone you’ve never met.
Remember three simple steps: CALL. PUSH. SHOCK.
If it’s safe to approach and the person is unresponsive and not breathing normally:
› CALL: Dial 000 and follow the emergency call-taker’s instructions.
› PUSH: Start CPR (30:2), pushing hard and fast in the centre of the chest.
› SHOCK: Use an AED as soon as one is available and follow its voice prompts.
You don’t need to be a paramedic or healthcare professional to make a difference. CPR helps keep blood circulating, and an AED can deliver a shock to treat certain life-threatening heart rhythms.
At Real Response, we believe practical skills and the confidence to act can make all the difference when seconds count.
