Beginning kinder is such an exciting time for children. To help our creche and future Yavneh kinder children to transition easily into the next stage of their education, we have special orientation days. Our Ta'am Shel Yavneh program allows children to become familiar with the classrooms that they will be in and provides them with an opportunity to get a head start in building relationships with their new teachers. Throughout the year we have many amazing sessions which expose the children to different aspects of kinder life so they know what to expect. This week, we celebrated all things Sukkot and Simchat Torah. With a special visit from Rabbi Sendor who played his guitar for us and showed us the Lulav and Etrog, we were able to immerse ourselves in the happiness and celebration of this Chag.

Last week we had the Year 1 Shabbat ‘Celebration of Learning’ Concert. The morning began in the Lamm Hall, where our students “wowed” the audience through song and spoken word. Following the presentation in the Lamm Hall, guests were invited to make their way to Hamerkaz to enjoy an interactive exhibition, showcasing the students’ learning throughout their unit of inquiry of Shabbat – positive attributes. The exhibition included work from Jewish Studies, General Studies, Hebrew, Digital technology and Art. A beautiful morning had by all.

When the sun comes out, so do the smiles! What a great week we had exploring our outdoor environment, playing with our friends, involving ourselves in our weekly music session and more!

We love Friday's at creche!
Particularly, spending time outside enjoying the weather while we engage with our friends. We love to challenge ourselves on the climbing equipment while developing our gross motor skills and we always help our friends along the way. Best of all, we really enjoy eating challah during our Shabbat party.

You’re invited! The Classic Cinema has opened up Classic Southside - a new space for jazz, talks, comedy, and much more. On Tuesday 17th September, a selection of secondary music ensembles (from years 7 – 12) will be performing! This is a really special opportunity for them to play in an established and professional live music venue. 🎷🎺🎻📯🎼🎶

The event is FREE and you don’t need to reserve seats.

✔ Please enter via the stairs or lift at Classic Cinema OR there is a door just past After The Tears.

There is so much excitement in the air as we begin learning all about Rosh Hashanah, our Jewish New Year. The children in our creche have immersed themselves in all things sweet. Educators have created some sensory and fine motor experience for the children to explore, as well as tying in some maths and measurement to our Rosh Hashana learning. Our rooms are looking colourful and exciting and we cannot wait to continue our learning.

The Prep 2020 kids visited 'big school' as part of our Ma'avar Transition Program. They visited the library, did reading time with the College Principal, participated in a PMP session with our sports educator and played in the playground with their buddies. It was a wonderful morning and we can't wait to welcome our new Preppies in 2020!

Last week Year 4 students from Grimwade House - Melbourne Grammar School, came to visit the Yavneh Creche and Kinder. They brought picture books to read to the kinder children and then made bookmarks for our students to keep. We shared some Hebrew words with them and they taught us the equivalent in Mandarin. It was lovely to meet “our neighbours” and we look forward to seeing them again soon!
