Earlier this month, Indigenous Christian translators from across the Top End gathered in Darwin for a two-week Translation Workshop hosted by Coordinate, AUSIL, and Bible Society Australia.

The workshop gave translation teams dedicated time for Scripture translation projects in their own languages, with several groups reaching exciting milestones, including completing Bible book drafts and recording Scripture and songs.

11 languages from the Top End were represented at the workshop.

Praise God for the faithful work happening in these language groups! Please pray for more Indigenous translators and more people to support this important ministry.

This week we’re celebrating that the final chapters of the Kriol audio Bible have been recorded. This project began in 1996, and we look forward to it being completed once the last recordings have been edited.

Last week, Peter and Dennis spent long hours in the Nungalinya College recording studio, finishing the final unrecorded books of the Old Testament. This milestone comes after 30 years of work from many faithful people and will make the Kriol Bible the first fully recorded audio Bible in any Australian Indigenous language.

Praise God for this incredible achievement and for making it possible to bring his Word to more people in an accessible format. Please join us in giving thanks for everyone who has contributed to this important work.

Pray for all these kids who received a Kids' Bible or PEV Bible at Southern Cross Kids' Camp last week. One camp graduate came along to pick up a sibling and said he'd been reading the Bible on his own at home ❤️

Thank you AUSIL and Bible Society Australia for your very generous donation of Bibles to our campers. Each camper received a Bible to keep, our graduates a PEV and the rest 'The Gospel Story Bible'.

They were enjoyed on camp by many of the children and their buddies, we hope they will be a blessing into the future.

Frequently in translation we come across words that do not occur in the language we are working in.
On either side of Easter, a Mawng workshop translating 1 Thessalonians and an Iwaidja workshop (pictured) translating the story of Jesus’ birth in Luke 2 were held in Darwin. In 1 Thessalonians, the team worked on how to express concepts like hope, joy and glory, and in Luke 2 it was words from the story like sheep and shepherds. Both groups were faced with the need to find creative solutions.
The conversations within the team and with helpers showed how important teamwork is for translation.
Please pray for ongoing work in these two languages as they continue checking their drafts so that they can share them with the community.
