Printmaking Night Studio is ON!! ❤️‍🔥

We let our housework do itself in the laundry last night whilst we binged on the basics of drypoint intaglio printmaking - alchemy! Trash into treasure, my friends.

Week one we started on our adorable 3D printed printing presses by . In the coming weeks we will scale up and road test the which is on its way the studio right this minute.

Holding space for experimentation and serious play sets me on fire. Last night was a brilliant example of teamwork, collaboration and channeling our energy into creative work. For many in our group, this was the first time ever pulling a print. Wowzerz. The process is the project x

We'll turn the laundrette into a print studio one night a week for 4 weeks exploring drypoint intaglio printmaking on recycled tetrapak (milk/soup) cartons!

Our July/August Watercolour Class for beginners is now FULL! However, we've just opened up a new beginner class for Wednesday mornings between 07 October - 11 November. If this excites you, and fits within your life, jump on our website and reserve your spot.

Here you can see folk from our previous cohort discussing their work amongst themselves and confidently using the skills and language they've developed throughout their 6 weeks together. Solid foundations, confidence, and positive art making experiences are what we cultivate here at Art Binge. All 5 of these folk are continuing onto an intermediate stage with Art Binge later in the year to keep building upon what they've discovered! ✨️💫

One of our recent group members mentioned to me that they're "no longer afraid of mixing colours." This is enormous. Once you understand the how and the why of basic colour theory, you move beyond scarcity and towards flow. The clarity in watercolour can quite quickly turn to brown, but not after you've got some knowledge in your kit! Colour is infinite, joyful and within your ability to grasp. We've got you!! 😊

Hello from me (Emily) at Art Binge! Just dropped on the website are some fresh courses from here until the end of the year. Amongst them are some firm faves as well as some cool surprises, such as a Two-day Intensive Specimen Drawing Club, Evening Prinmaking Studio and Watercolour Wednesdays! I'd love to see you at one or more of these courses and if you have any Qs just reach out!

This week one student from our Watercolour Wednesday team said to me, "I'm no longer scared of mixing colours." This is huge and made me feel so excited for them. Here we see a massive shift away from a scarcity minset towards a sense freedom to play. When you deeply learn the fundamentals, you're no longer alone guessing.

Whether you are a beginner, or a beginner at heart, Art Binge is great place to start!

I'm looking forward to sharing some insight on my arts practice at the Castlemaine Art Museum next Sunday the 19th of April at 3:30-5pm. Come and enjoy a glass of wine or juice and let me take you places. I am framing this talk through the lens of observing and reimagining the body. There's quite a bit to chew on there.
