National Reconciliation Week 🤝

At The Discovery House , we respectfully acknowledge the Dharug People as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work, learn, and play.

This Reconciliation Week, we are reflecting, learning, and growing together. Through stories, conversations, art, and connection, we are building bridges and deepening our knowledge—laying strong foundations for the next generation.

Today, on ANZAC Day, we take a quiet moment to remember and honour the brave men and women who have served—and continue to serve—to keep our country safe and free.

While young children may not yet understand the complexities of war, ANZAC Day can still be a meaningful time. It’s a chance to teach our little ones about the values of courage, friendship, helping others, and standing together—even when things are difficult.

It’s also a beautiful opportunity to show respect to our older generations, to listen to their stories, and to learn the importance of kindness, gratitude, and connection.

Lest we forget.

Our preschool was buzzing with excitement this week as families joined us for our Easter Egg Hunt! 🐣🌼

Clues were hidden all around the centre, leading our little explorers on a fun-filled journey to find the special treasure basket at the end—packed with Easter surprises! 🧺✨

It was such a joy to see children and families working together, laughing, and making memories along the way. A big thank you to everyone who joined the fun and made it such a magical experience! 💛🐰

This week, we gave those sneaky single socks (you know, the ones who’ve lost their partner!) a new purpose — turning them into the cutest, quirkiest rabbits ever! 💫

Each child created their very own unique bunny, and just like our little learners, no two are the same. 💕 From floppy ears to button noses, these one-of-a-kind creations are full of personality and charm!

Reduce ~ Reuse ~ Recycle

🌿 This old wooden planter box was too lovely to toss, so we’ve repurposed it into storage for our sandpit essentials. ♻️

Always a very special and exciting day for us here at TDH!

🌿 We are so grateful to Bidjiwong Community Nursery for their generous donation of beautiful native tube stock! 🌸

Our garden will soon be blooming with colourful flowers, shrubs, and even some bush tucker. 🌼🍃 We're excited to be able to use the 'Old Man Saltbush' and 'Lemon Myrtle' for making tea and adding flavour to our cooking! 🌿🍋

Clean Up Australia Day 🌎🌍🌏

This morning at The Discovery House we helped remove some rubbish from the creek that runs at the back of our property.

We were so surprised at just how much rubbish there was!

We were very proud of our efforts and have decided that we are going to do this monthly to help keep our waterways and land clean.
