Can sand really behave like a liquid? 🤯

In Grandpa’s Bubbling Sandpit, children explore the fascinating science of fluidised air beds and Bernoulli’s principle through hands-on experiments that make sand bubble, flow and move in surprising ways.

It’s messy-looking science without the mess — packed with curiosity, discovery and plenty of “How did that happen?” moments.

Perfect for Vacation Care, OSHC and early learning services looking for an engaging STEM experience children will keep talking about.

Book Grandpa’s Bubbling Sandpit for your next program.

Every clip in this reel was captured during our visit last week to Tumut Public School — and it pretty much sums up the energy, curiosity, laughter and wonderfully busy hands we saw all week long.

From experimenting and building to testing, questioning, problem-solving and those brilliant “WAIT… look what happened!” moments, STEM was well and truly alive at Tumut. 💚

A huge thank you to the students and staff at for welcoming Beyond the Beanstalk and letting us be part of such a fantastic week of learning.

This is exactly what we love about taking STEM beyond the book. 🌱

Ask children to predict what will happen if an ice cube is placed on different materials such as metal, wood and plastic. Which surface melts the ice the fastest? This simple experiment introduces children to heat transfer and encourages observation,....

What happens when STEM takes over the whole school? 🚀🧪⚙️

Over the past few days, we’ve been having an incredible time at Tumut Public School, bringing hands-on science, engineering and discovery to students across the school through one of our exciting **School Circuits**.

From curious questions and surprising experiments to plenty of “WOW!” moments, every session gave students the chance to explore STEM by doing it — not just hearing about it.

Our School Circuits are designed to make whole-school STEM days easy, engaging and unforgettable, with multiple activities and workshops tailored to different age groups.

Ready to bring a full day of STEM excitement to your school? Get in touch to explore our School Circuit options.

Wednesday Wonder

Can you really use a piece of fruit as a battery? The answer is yes!

Citrus fruits, like lemons, contain acids that can help create a small electrical current when combined with two different metals. It's not enough to power your home—but it is enough to demonstrate one of the fascinating ways electricity works! It's a fun reminder that science is all around us, even in the fruit bowl.

This is just one of the hands-on experiments children explore in our Growley & the Crazy Clocks workshop, where they investigate electricity, circuits, energy and the science that keeps our world ticking.

If you could power one tiny thing with a lemon battery, what would you choose? Let us know in the comments! 🍋⚡

At Beyond the Beanstalk, we believe the best learning starts with a question.
