Urgent Community Support Request – Devastating House Fire

Dear Brookside Community,

We are deeply saddened to share the news that the Tasmania-Aisea family experienced a devastating house fire that has significantly damaged their home last night. Everyone has thankfully escaped safely, though one family member is currently hospitalised with burns to their hands.

The family is in need of immediate support, and are in particularly urgent need of clothing for the 5 children and food vouchers.

If you are able to donate any of the following items, please bring them to the school at your earliest convenience. We will ensure that the family receives all donations as soon as possible.

- Girls shoes and clothes:

The girls are aged 6, 10, 11 & 14. Any clothing and shoes appropriate for girls this age would be much appreciated.

- Boys shoes and clothes:

The boy is aged 16. Any clothing and shoes appropriate for boys this age would be much appreciated.

- Food vouchers (i.e. Coles, Woolworths, etc).

To further assist the family to rebuild their lives, and provide ongoing relief and support, a GoFundMe page has also been set up:

This week we celebrated ‘R U okay Day’. A massive thank you to our amazing wellbeing team for organising such a thoughtful and meaningful R U OK? Week for both staff and students. The day is a reminder of the importance of checking in with one another, sparking conversations that could make a real difference. Thank you to Kissy, Reginald, Valentina, Matt, Emma and the HOL cafe team for leading the events and breakfast, highlighting that a simple question can have a powerful impact. 💛💛

On Monday, 15 September 2025, Brookside will be holding a Casual Clothes Day with the theme: Decade or Disguise – You Decide!

Students are encouraged to: Dress up from their favourite decade (’20s, ’70s, ’90s, or anything in between!) Or come in costume – superheroes, movie characters, fantasy figures, and more.
Cost: Gold coin donation
Purpose: All funds raised will go directly towards the Year 9 Graduation.

It’s a fantastic chance for our Brookside school community to come together for a fun, colourful day while supporting our Year 9s.
