🔊 Year 9 Science – The Science of Sound 🎶🧪

Our Year 9 students had a blast exploring the science of sound during an exciting Science Week show by Fizzics Education! 🔬✨

Through interactive demonstrations and hands-on experiments, students discovered how sound is created, how it travels and how it interacts with different materials 🎵🌊. Students were captivated by the surprising experiments and fascinating demonstrations throughout the session. 👀🧠

It was fantastic to see our students engaged, curious and eager to get involved! 🙌🔬

We couldn’t have asked for a better way to conclude Science Week, proving that science really can make some noise! 🔊🎶✨

🧪 Year 8 Science – Liquid Nitrogen Show ❄️🔬

Our Year 8 students had an incredible Science Week session with a spectacular Liquid Nitrogen Show! ❄️💨 From dramatic demonstrations to plenty of “WOW!” moments 😮✨, students were amazed to see science come to life right in front of them! 🔬🧪

The session sparked curiosity, excitement and lots of questions 🤔💡 as students explored the fascinating world of extreme temperatures and changes of state 🌡️❄️➡️💨.

It was fantastic to see our young scientists so engaged, excited and ready to discover more! 👩‍🔬👨‍🔬✨

🔬 Year 7 Science – Forces, Friction & Movement ⚙️

Things were definitely moving during our Year 7 Science Week incursion! 🚀✨ Students explored forces, friction and movement through fun, hands-on activities 🧪🔍, making predictions and testing how different forces can change the way objects move. 💨⚙️

Along the way, students developed their thinking and social ATL skills 🧠🤝 by solving challenges, sharing ideas and working collaboratively with their classmates. 💡👥

A fun-filled session that showed our young scientists that learning about forces can be anything but stationary! 🚀🔬✨

🔬⚙️ Year 6 Science – Crazy Contraptions! 🧪💡

What a fun way to kick off Science Week! 🎉🔬 Our Year 6 little scientists 👩‍🔬👨‍🔬 put their thinking caps on 🧠 and took on the Crazy Contraptions Challenge, working together to create a Rube Goldberg machine to ring the bell! 🔔⚙️

There were plenty of creative ideas 💡, teamwork 🤝, testing 🧪, problem-solving 🧩 and a few “almost there!” moments along the way! 😄🙌

It was fantastic to see our students having so much fun while developing their ATL skills and discovering that science is all about thinking, creating, experimenting and trying again! 🚀🔍✨

Year 9 Science: Sheep Brain Dissection
Our Year 9 Science students participated in a hands-on sheep brain dissection to investigate the structure and function of the brain. Students identified key anatomical features, including the cerebrum, cerebellum, brainstem, and spinal cord, and explored how each region contributes to controlling movement, coordination, sensation, and other vital body functions. This practical activity strengthened students' understanding of the nervous system while developing their observation, investigation, and scientific inquiry skills, allowing them to connect classroom learning with real-life anatomy!

Our Year 7 Design students put their coding and creativity skills into action with an exciting Edison Robot challenge! 🤖✨
Using EdScratch, students programmed their Edison robots to travel in various geometric patterns, including circles, squares, pentagons, hexagons and more. They then attached coloured markers to their robots with blocks, and created those shapes on paper.
This hands-on activity gave students a fun and engaging way to explore programming, problem-solving and computational thinking while seeing how code can control real-world movement. It was fantastic to see their enthusiasm, creativity and teamwork as they experimented, refined their code and proudly showcased their geometric masterpieces!
