A greeting, hello, well wishes and virtual hugs...
It's been a month since we re-entered lockdown and almost a week since Stage 4 restrictions have been imposed. Since it is impossible to escape, we'll leave that thought there.
In the surrealist of ways we are privileged to have some normalcy. We (as many others have) transitioned straight into the online sessions, which we are still doing today. Clients who have attended and still attend our sessions, generously give us the ability to have that social exchange. Obviously nothing comes close to interaction IRL, but it's an excellent second. One we're very grateful for.
So, just a gentle reminder to clients to continue booking your sessions via our app and check-in with our community app via MN to see any updates. As always, please feel free to get in touch via email.
As it gets colder, it may not be ideal to be outside; however, even 10 minutes of fresh air while taking a brisk walk may help more than you think. There is no right or wrong way to feel at the moment, but do continue to practise self-care. It's important and you're worth it.
Here, we're having a little missing moment in regards to our studio equipment and so what you see is a part of a patent filed in 1931, (Imagine that, in 11 years it will be 100, and that doesn't count how long ideas stay in the mind.) created by Joseph Pilates. What you might not be aware of is that the chair (or Wunda Chair) was designed to be a seat when not in use. A man of forward thinking. And so we too, continue to look forward to the future.
From our studios and homes to yours, stay safe, stay well and please do seek the available services if you need them.

Zoom sessions have recommenced due to the reinstating of lockdown restrictions in the Melbourne LGA. We ask that clients get in touch for access to our online sessions and Private Training scheduling.
As always, we wish everyone the very best in these uncertain times. Please try to be patient, kind and practice self-care. If needed, reach out to support services.
And remember, according to the DHHS exercise is allowed with 2 people from the same household or 1 + 1 from other household. (Masks have also been recommended in situations where social distancing cannot be maintained.)
Even just a walk can do wonders.
All the best.

Sending positive energy and thoughts to everyone as we enter our third week in Melbourne (and knowing that worldwide we are at different stages during this time).
We are fortunate to be in good health and good spirits at this time and we urge everyone not to take their mind/body connection for granted.
There are many resources online that are freely available (if joining us or your favourite places of workouts is not possible at this time).
Motivation may be difficult, but even 10 minutes a day is better than not investing in yourself at all. Sure, the couch and Doritos (or whatever flavour of cheeky snack you like) may sound more appealing than sweating on your carpet, but your mind and body be better for it, even if it's just stretching.
Remember, your mind and body need nourishment, too.

For our Apparatus Community, please ensure you keep up-to-date with us through the Mighty Networks app that we utilise for our community as it is our go-to for the latest announcements, messages and current online sessions through Zoom.
See you at this week's sessions!

It seems somewhat surreal to be posting on FB in the current climate of something that affects all of us. All being worldwide.
On one hand we have non-stop media (including social) about COVID-19 and on the other hand we can still (currently) walk into the Melbourne CBD (where we are located) and with the exception of face masks (which is not unusual for Melbourne, and not just a response to the current situation) and it being slightly less crowded, one could almost believe that it is just another normal (but really, what is normal?) day.
Both our studios are generally aimed at small numbers and private training. Since moving from La Trobe Street, sessions at the Pilates studio have been capped at 6. The TRX studio is generally capped at 8 with the occasional flexibility during circuit-style sessions.
We only mention this because our numbers are well below that of the current non-essential gathering number of 100. As of the 18 March 2020 Prime Minister media statement, we are not required to close (unfortunately this all changed on 23 March 2020 in which our industry was forced into a mandatory shutdown).
We are also able to meet the requirement of social distancing. Similar to many of our industry peers, we are able to space out clients and if required, further cap numbers.
Our hygiene practices at the studios have always been particular. Cleaning of common touch areas in addition to equipment have always been a part of our schedule. Part of that reason is the simple experience of having colds and flus. Being in the industry means that you do try to lead a healthier and more active lifestyle; however, it doesn't mean that we are superhuman. And when you are in a teaching environment, not getting sick is high on the list of priorities.
So yes, we have always cleaned a lot (and we clean even more now). We clean between sessions. Hand sanitiser is now required on entry. And... we get a lot of help from our clients, who practice simple commonsense by staying away if they feel unwell, which we are grateful for.
In short, we are taking this seriously. We adhere to all current recommendations and guidelines from the Department of Health and the WHO. And we will continue to adapt as the situation unfolds.
We are also thinking of our peers across the oceans, many who have had to close their centres and studios. And also everyone we are hearing of in small business, independent contractors, artists and so forth.
When the time comes (in terms of the situation easing and this is likely not to be for 6 months) we are hoping that we can support everyone around us, because aside from our love of health and fitness, arts and culture is what enriches our lives and is something we often take for granted.
Please also consider what you might be doing with some of the goods in your cupboard or pantry. There is a food supply shortage for legitimate organisations who help those in need. We have privilege and access. Supermarkets are still stocking (even if it is taking a little longer), so stockpiling for an apocalypse is not quite necessary. (We're not at zombie level yet and if that happens, we expect Mila Jovovich to come a save us. Maybe more machetes and less toilet paper?)
Stay well. Stay safe. Follow all the guidelines from reputable sources (turn off the media for awhile and take a breather) and if you or loved ones are unwell, we wish you all a speedy recovery.

A happy Friday shoutout across town to Xtend Barre. This time last week we got to work with this great group of fantastic, strong women on harnessing the power of TRX.
Probably an overlooked fact is that as instructors we do continue investing in our knowledge, skills and our own practice so we can continue to bring all that fun (we know clients have other words for our fun) to our studios, gyms or what recreational space your are in.
TRX has some big things launching this year so watch this space!
Great work Xtend Barre! If that’s your local (South Yarra), visit their beautiful studio!

TRX Training Summit and Inaugural TRX for Yoga in Cyberport Hong Kong 🇭🇰
“This wrap up for the TRX Training Summit in Hong Kong comes from the window of my plane looking across the shimmering lights, over the water as we’ve been held up for an hour on the tarmac, however with an ever grateful heart for the amazing experience.”
—
Day one - with Krystal Say for the inaugural TRX for Yoga Live Course in Asia was delivered with the incredible conviction, experience and energy that this amazing Educator, Mentor and Instructor brings to the floor.
We were introduced to T.B.I, went through flows, techniques and new ways to integrate the TRX into our yoga practice, it showed how some hidden gems not only make both of these methods, so powerful but also how they connect fundamentally (just in different languages), striving for similar end goals, in the health and wellbeing space that we work in.
Sometimes those intrinsic movements and variations with asanas and trained eyes, help us find and light up parts of our minds, bodies and movement that are untapped, been neglected or overlooked.
To be able to create, explore and bring this home to Melbourne is going to be a great start to Spring.
“Take a moment right now where ever you are, to reset, clear your mind and breathe ( focus on your breathing ) 🌊 “
—
Day two - with started with his signature spin and coaching, with a TRX Functional Training Workout.
“Working on TRX style burpees to standard really got the blood pumping and heart rates elevated with an already humid 30 degrees outside.”
Taking the group through new coaching applications, exploring the M3 method of programming, training techniques and throwing many stones, testing our endurance and sheer will to push for one more perfect rep (we were ‘Quelched’).
The TRX Mbody Programming and Workouts are so well put together (I personally love how they flow from the hinge to the lunge 😉).
Experiencing the Evolution Workout touched lightly on some mobility, however that wasn’t the focus.
The MBody Programs are launching in Melbourne soon, so stay tuned...
Wrapping up the day with the tools to bring challenges, layers and an overall experience for our clients not only to remember, but also to keep them engaged and coming back for more.
Lots of great take aways, things to develop and a driving point for this one,
“Being ruthlessly efficient.”
To finish off this fantastic weekend, sending a massive shout out and sincere thank you to Kevin Rushton and Phoebe Ho with the OPS Team and Instructors who always make the trip across the waters so memorable with their hospitality, generosity, and support.
—
The day closed with an emotional F.A.C.E.U.P values reel from , and highlighted some of our fantastic TRX Family who really brought their best for the weekend.
I’m still blown away by for his trilingual translating, instructing and demos, as well as a special mention to Emily Lola Tan for her strength and willingness to share her life changing journey back to health over the last year or so, showing us that fierce determination and a lust for life can shine through even the darkest of days. You’re truly an inspiration.
