Happy 81st Indonesian Independence Day!🇮🇩

In Indonesia, Independence Day celebrations are traditionally marked by lively community games, known as "Lomba 17-an". From kerupuk eating contests and sack races to other fun activities like playing the angklung, these games bring people together to celebrate with plenty of laughter and excitement.

The RMIT Engineering & Computing Technology (CT) Capstone 2026 took place across five cities in Indonesia: Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Bali, and Lombok.

Students spent a month working directly with their host organisations before continuing their projects remotely.

This year, 10 host organisations opened their doors to support the program, providing students with valuable real-world experience.

As Madonna says, strike a pose! 📸✨

Our RMIT Fashion Enterprise 2026 students are striking a pose as they begin their one-month journey in Indonesia.

Before heading to Bandung for their internships, they conducted professional visits to two renowned Indonesian fashion brands: and .

The visits gave them valuable insights into how Sapto Djojokartiko preserves its luxury and heritage brand identity, as well as how KAMI. leverages creative collaborations with various brands to expand its reach.

The RMIT Psychology and Social Inclusion Internship 2026 has officially come to a close.

Two Fridays ago, participants marked the end of their journey with a Public Psychology Symposium and final presentations.

Held in collaboration between RMIT University (RMIT University) and Universitas Padjadjaran (Universitas Padjadjaran — Unpad), the symposium featured two guest lecturers from RMIT and one from UNPAD, creating a valuable platform for knowledge sharing and academic exchange.

The program concluded with participants presenting the projects and insights they developed throughout their internship, reflecting on a month of professional learning, cross-cultural collaboration, and meaningful community engagement.

We recently welcomed Professor Majid Nazem from the School of Engineering at RMIT University.‬

‪During his week-long visit to Jakarta, Bali, and Lombok, Professor Nazem met with our Indonesian partners to explore future opportunities for collaboration, including engineering research partnerships.‬

‪He also visited students at their project sites to review their progress, provide technical guidance, and strengthen engagement with our host organisations.‬

‪We look forward to seeing these partnerships continue to grow, creating even more meaningful international learning opportunities for future cohorts.‬

Earlier this week, Dr Raylene Cooke from Deakin University delivered a guest lecture for the Faculty of Agriculture at .

The session was officially opened by Mahardika Rizqi Himawan, S.I.K., M.Si., Vice Dean III for Student Affairs and Alumni, who highlighted the importance of international academic forums in fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Titled "Silent Killers: The Impact of Rodenticide Use on Native Wildlife and Human Health Across the Asia-Pacific – Are Rodenticides the Modern DDT?", the lecture sparked discussion on one of today's important environmental challenges.

The event brought together around 20 local students, 5–10 lecturers, representatives from our host organisations, and Australian students currently undertaking their Environmental Internships in Lombok.

This guest lecture forms part of the ongoing collaboration between International Internships, Deakin University, and Universitas Mataram (UNRAM), alongside the current Environmental Internships taking place in Lombok.
