Robogals Melbourne Robogals Melbourne is a student club that runs school workshops to introduce young girls to STEM! Want to know more about us?

Robogals is a student-run organisation that aims to engage schoolgirls in engineering topics from a young age, with the long-term goal of increasing female enrolment in engineering, science and technology courses at universities. Our primary activity is having university student volunteers (both female and male) visit girls primary schools to run LEGO robotics workshops and mentor teams in LEGO ro

botics competitions. The university students are provided with the necessary training to teach LEGO robotics, and an important goal of the organization is not only to have a positive impact on the schools, but also to provide a rewarding experience for the dedicated students who volunteer their time and skills to the organization. We also run a range of other activities around this central theme. Past events have included a robotics competition (2008) and a mass robot dance that attracted significant media coverage (2009), while future plans include science fairs, engineering camps and other initiatives. Throwback to our annual Science and Engineering Day! 🤖

Our Science and Engineering Day is an in-person event where students have a chance to explore STEM fields such as engineering, coding and robotics here at the University of Melbourne! 👩‍🔬

This year’s event had an eager group of 30 students, from Year 5 to Year 8, engaging in a design challenge to create buildings in a micro:bit city 🏙️. The students had a fantastic time learning to program and wire their creations, which included buildings such as a hospital 🏥, a music store 🎵, and a sushi restaurant! 🍣

A special shoutout to all of our lovely and dedicated volunteers who took the time out of their winter breaks to make this event a success! 💙

👥 Hosted by Robogals Melbourne in partnership with leading road-safety technology company Acusensus consultancy, this one-day hackathon is built for big ideas and bold action!

🚗 WHAT’S THE THEME?
Use Artificial Intelligence and Electronic Hardware to build an in-vehicle Minimum Viable Product (MVP) prototype designed to promote driver and passenger safety!
