The curtains have closed for ‘Garage Girls,’ an original Studio South Production.

‘Garage Girls,’ shines a light on the dedicated women who helped the allied cause of WWII, encrypting and decrypting messages as part of the secret operations of the Central Bureau. Sworn to secrecy for sixty years, their story has only recently come out. It has been our honour and privilege to tell their story.

Equally, we are so very proud of the dedication and talent that our actors brought to the stage. Their maturity and willingness to be challenged throughout the rehearsal process was unwavering, culminating in a highly-skilled, thoroughly professional and truly moving performance.

We would very much like to thank our parents for their support and for all those who attended what was one of our most successful productions.

Finally, we would like to dedicate this inaugural performance to the invaluable work of the “Garage Girls,” who served our country and who we will remember.

‘Garage Girls,’ written by Robert McCuaig, explores the contribution of the forgotten female code breakers of WWII. As the Second World War raged in the Pacific, there was a team of code breakers in Australia working around the clock intercepting and deciphering Japanese messages. It was Australia’s own Bletchley Park, but the team were young, female and worked in a shed. They called themselves the Garage Girls.

And… Scene!

That’s a wrap on our Mid-Year Showcase 🎭

A huge congratulations to every actor in our school! 👏 Our team is immensely proud of not only the talent we saw on stage yesterday, but the commitment and dedicated work that each and every class put into their play. Whether it was a comedic piece or truly moving performance, it was a real joy to see our actors showcase their unique strengths while working as a beautiful team.

Thank you to our parents for all your support and encouraging your child to pursue the creative arts. Drama, for us, is an important art form as it allows students to explore self-expression and creativity, whilst fostering empathy, confidence and connection with others.

Thank you to our wonderful backstage crew 🙌🏼
And to our amazing photographer 📸

Wishing our families a lovely winter holiday break and see you all in Term 3! 🎭 ❄️
