✏️🌟 Early Writing & Mark Making Exploration 🌟✏️
Today, our children engaged in a meaningful mark-making experience using whiteboards and markers to practise drawing, writing, and expressing their ideas. Some children explored letter formation and attempted to write their names, while others used symbols, shapes, and drawings to represent their thoughts and stories.
Experiences like these help build the foundations for early literacy by developing pencil grip, hand strength, fine motor control, and an understanding that marks and symbols carry meaning. As children experiment with writing in a pressure-free environment, they gain confidence in communicating their ideas and begin making important connections between spoken and written language.
It was wonderful to see the children’s concentration, persistence, and pride as they shared their creations with peers and educators throughout the experience. 💚📝

🌿✨ Open-Ended Nature Play ✨🌿
Today, our children explored a beautiful open-ended playdough invitation using natural and loose parts materials including shells, corks, wooden pieces, and greenery. This hands-on experience encouraged creativity, imagination, and independent thinking as children manipulated the playdough and used the materials to create their own unique designs and stories.
Through this experience, children strengthened their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, problem-solving abilities, and creative expression. Open-ended play allows children to take the lead in their learning, fostering confidence, curiosity, and a sense of wonder as they explore materials in their own way.
It was wonderful to see the children deeply engaged, collaborating with peers, sharing ideas, and bringing their imaginations to life through play. 🍃🐚💚
Today our children explored a beautiful sensory experience using coloured rice and pasta arranged into a heart shape alongside little people to represent inclusion, belonging and connection. 💛🌈
As the children scooped, poured, mixed and explored the sensory materials, they were encouraged to engage in collaborative play, share resources and create conversations around friendships and togetherness. The addition of the little people helped spark discussions about how everybody is unique, valued and belongs within our learning environment.
Sensory play experiences like this support children’s fine motor development, creativity, language skills and social interactions while also creating calming opportunities for children to regulate emotions and engage in meaningful play with their peers. ✨
At Caringbah Pre-Kindergarten, we love creating intentional experiences that encourage inclusion, connection and a strong sense of belonging for every child. 🤍

🤍WERE HERE TO HELP🤍 Supporting children through biting and challenging behaviours can feel overwhelming at times, however these behaviours are a very common part of early childhood development. Young children are still learning how to communicate their needs, regulate emotions, navigate friendships and cope with feelings such as frustration, excitement, tiredness or overwhelm. Often, behaviours such as biting, hitting or pushing are a child’s way of expressing emotions when they do not yet have the language or skills to communicate them appropriately.
As adults, our calm and consistent responses play a significant role in helping children feel safe, supported and understood. Children learn best through guidance, reassurance and connection. By acknowledging emotions, modelling gentle interactions and teaching alternative ways to communicate, we help children gradually develop the social and emotional skills needed to build positive relationships and manage big feelings.
Creating predictable routines, offering opportunities for emotional regulation and praising positive behaviours can make a huge difference in supporting children through these stages. It is important to remember that behaviour is communication, not a reflection of a child being “naughty” or “bad”. Every child develops these skills at their own pace and benefits from patience, understanding and consistency between home and early learning environments.
At Caringbah Pre-Kindergarten, we are committed to working in partnership with families to support each child’s emotional wellbeing, confidence and development. Through positive guidance, co-regulation and nurturing relationships, we aim to help every child feel safe, connected and supported as they learn and grow. If families ever have concerns regarding their child’s behaviour or emotional development, please know our team is always here to listen, support and work collaboratively alongside you.
K is for keyboards, kinetic sand and keeping busy little minds engaged ✨
Today in our Snugglepot room, the children explored the letter K through hands-on learning experiences. The children loved investigating keyboards, pressing buttons and exploring letters while pretending to type just like grown ups!
We also explored kinetic sand, using our hands to squeeze, mould, scoop and create while strengthening fine motor skills and engaging our senses through play-based learning.
Such a fun and engaging day full of exploration, creativity and learning through play 💛
Colour chaos, curious minds and hands on learning 🎨☁️
Today our Snugglepots children explored colour mixing through a sensory rich shaving foam experience, watching colours swirl, blend and transform right before their eyes. The children were so engaged as they mixed different colours together, made predictions, experimented and discovered new shades through play.
Experiences like this encourage creativity, problem solving, fine motor development and early science concepts all while creating so much joy and excitement in the moment. There is something so magical about watching children learn through messy, hands on exploration ✨
🐞🪲 The Cuddlepie class have been diving into the wonderful world of insects through hands on exploration, sensory play and investigation experiences. Using magnifying glasses, digging tools and loose parts, the children explored different bugs, discussed their features and engaged in imaginative small world play.
These experiences encouraged curiosity, fine motor development, problem solving and early science learning as the children investigated textures, environments and the unique characteristics of each insect. We loved watching their excitement as they discovered, examined and created their own little bug adventures together 🐜🌿
🦋 B is for Butterfly 🦋
Our children explored the letter B through a beautiful butterfly painting experience 🎨 By adding blobs of paint, folding their paper and opening it up, they revealed colourful butterfly prints and watched the magic happen before their eyes
This hands on experience supported letter recognition while also building fine motor skills, creativity and an understanding of colour mixing and cause and effect
We loved hearing the children use their B words like butterfly, blue and blend as they created their own unique masterpieces 💛
