Caringbah High School

A Caringbah High School student has been recognised as one of the state's leading young voices, taking out Youth Parliamentarian of the Year in the 2026 Y NSW Youth Parliament.

Billy Bofinger, a Year 11 student at Caringbah High School, received the honour after taking part in this year's Youth Parliament program. Caringbah High School has publicly congratulated Billy on the achievement.

Billy also serves as Youth Leader of the Upper House and Youth Member for Cronulla, giving the Sutherland Shire a direct voice in the statewide youth program. He was also a member of the NSW Youth Advisory Council in 2023.

His achievement has now been formally recognised in the NSW Parliament, with Cronulla MP Mark Speakman lodging a Community Recognition Statement for Billy on 6 August.

The Y NSW Youth Parliament gives young people the opportunity to debate issues affecting their communities, develop policy proposals and experience parliamentary processes.

Billy's latest recognition adds to an already strong year. He and fellow Caringbah High student Lachlan Cachia recently placed fourth out of 470 teams across NSW in the Model United Nations Grand Finals at NSW Parliament House, earning a place at the national competition in Adelaide later this year.

The Youth Parliamentarian of the Year award has also been celebrated locally, with the achievement acknowledged by Caringbah High School, Mr Speakman and members of the wider Cronulla community.

A huge thanks to Headspace Miranda and Hurstville for running a session with Year 8 on supporting friends with their mental health - is such a vital part of Caringbah to take care of each other and ourselves, and wonderful to have more resources to do so!

This year, Caringbah High is celebrating Wear It Purple Day on Thursday 27th August.
Wear It Purple Day is an annual event that celebrates diversity, inclusion and respect for all young people, including those who identify as LGBTQIA+.
The Theme this year is "Colours of Courage," where “Courage is not just expressed in big moments, but in everyday choices to live proudly and invite others into understanding, acceptance and celebration.” For more information https://www.wearitpurple.org/

🔬⚙️ Science Week Fun!

Our Year 7 students have been enjoying Science Week, getting creative while exploring the science behind wheels, axles and gears. Through hands-on activities, students investigated how these simple machines work together to transfer motion and make everyday tasks easier.

A great combination of creativity, problem-solving and scientific thinking! 🧠🔧✨

🕵️‍♀️🔬 Science meets detective work!

Our year 9 students stepped into the roles of forensic scientists and detectives, examining and analysing crucial evidence from a crime scene. Moving through a series of specialised Evidence Stations, they applied scientific techniques to gather clues, interpret results and piece together the story behind the mysterious disappearance of a missing girl.

* Toxicology Analysis
* Digital Microscopy
* Impression Evidence
* Autopsy Report
* Hair and Fibre Analysis
* Digital Evidence
* DNA Profiling

Throughout the investigation, students combined their scientific knowledge with critical and creative thinking, problem-solving and teamwork to evaluate evidence and develop their theories about what happened.

A fantastic hands-on experience that brought forensic science to life! 🧬🧪🔬

As part of National Science Week, students in junior classes had to use their problem solving skills to break out of the Stile Escape room! We solved puzzles, looked for clues and saved the “seeds of science” through some activities celebrating the work of Darwin, Newton, Curie and Payne in biology, physics, chemistry and earth sciences!

As part of their study of WWII and Australia Year 10 were offered the chance to create their own textbook.
