Today, we farewell our wonderful Head of Department – Curriculum, Miss Richards, and take a moment to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution she has made to our school over the last three years. 💙

Miss Richards has played a pivotal role in shaping and strengthening teaching and learning across our school through her strategic thinking and leadership in curriculum, reporting and assessment. Her dedication to guiding our school through the implementation of best practices in the Teaching of Reading from Prep to Year 6, has helped build a strong foundation for quality teaching and improved learning outcomes for all students.

Her knowledge, commitment and thoughtful leadership have made a lasting impact on our staff, students and school community. We are incredibly grateful for the passion and expertise she has brought to her role and the positive difference she has made along the way. 👏

While we are sad to see her go, we are excited for Miss Richards as she begins this next chapter at her new school. We wish her every success, happiness and all the very best for the future! 💐

This Mental Health Week, we are reminding our students that looking after our mental health is just as important as looking after our physical health.

At Mayfield, we encourage our students to:
😊 Talk to someone when things feel difficult
🤝 Connect with friends and others who care about them
🌱 Take time to play, move and enjoy the things they love
💬 Ask for help when they need it
❤️ Show kindness to themselves and others
🧠 Remember that it’s okay to have big feelings and that they don’t have to manage them alone.

Mental health and wellbeing is something we support throughout the year. Our goal is to help students develop the confidence, strategies and relationships they need to navigate challenges and thrive.

At the end of term 3, our 4-6 students attended the Sports Gala Day and competed against local schools in Netball, Soccer and Basketball. It was a great opportunity to play against new players and experience a competitive environment. Thank you to Ms Arrowsmith for organising our Mayfield teams and to our 4-6 staff who reffed and accompanied students to the various locations.
