Today, our Littleheroes spent the day connecting with nature on Awabakal Land at the Hunter Wetlands Centre. We were lucky enough to spot so many incredible creatures up close!
Our day was packed with wild discoveries:
🐍 A snake enjoying its lunch (a rat!)
🦎 A friendly blue tongue lizard who loved getting some gentle pats
🦎 A stunning bearded dragon soaking up the surroundings
🐍 A sneaky green tree snake
🪶 Plenty of native magpie geese
🐟 And even a quick glimpse of an eel!
Hands-on learning in nature teaches our children so much about respect for wildlife, curiosity, and the environment around us. We are so lucky to have such amazing natural learning spaces right in our backyard! 🌿🌾

Did you know that female peacocks also spread their feathers in a fan-like shape?
Today, we had the chance to observe this behavior at Blackbutt, but we unfortunately missed the perfect shot. It was still awe-inspiring to see. By doing this, the female peacock makes herself appear larger to protect her territory and uses her feathers to ward off threats to her offspring. While she may not have the same dazzling eye feathers as the male, she has her own distinct beauty.
