Congratulation to Monique who saved her GOTCHAs to claim her Tier 3 prize this week. Congratulations also to Kaden Y and Ava R on earning 50 GOTCHAs recently to claim their second prizes! These students have consistently modelled Respect, Responsibility and Safety at school.

On Monday the U15 Boys Basketball team took part in the Westlakes Gala Day held at Maitland Basketball Stadium.

Our first game resulted in a loss to Morisset by one point (29-30) after the lead had swapped and changed steadily in the last few minutes. We then went on to soundly defeat Glendale 45-14 and were the only team on the day to defeat West Wallsend in a nail biter that ended with us up by one (33-32). The last game of the day was tied at half time but ended with an unfortunate loss which meant we do not progress to the next round.

All of the boys involved represented Cardiff High to the highest standard at all times and we can all be very proud of their efforts!

As part of the Yr 7 Science topic, Forces, 7A have been focusing on the study of electrostatics and the concept of balanced and unbalanced forces. Students have been able to use the Van de Graaff generator to observe the behaviour of electric charges.
They have also ventured to the back oval to launch some rockets to analyse thrust and weight.

🏉 NRL All Abilities Gala Day 🏉

What a great day it was at the NRL All Abilities Gala Day, held on Thursday 13th August at Croudace Bay Sports Complex!

A huge thank you to the NRL for hosting the day.

SOAR students enjoyed skills clinics, League Tag games and participation with peers from other schools. A special thank you also goes to the Year 11 SLR students who assisted the NRL Team with the skills and drills throughout the day. They did an excellent job helping the participants and created such a positive and enjoyable atmosphere.

Thank you to everyone who got involved and made it such a great experience!

Friday 28 August is Wear It Purple Day

A national day to celebrate LGBTQIA+ young people and show them that they’re seen, supported, and valued in every space. This year's theme is Colours of Courage. Colours of Courage celebrates the many different forms of courage shown by LGBTQIA+ young people, allies and communities every day. Courage can look like speaking up, standing out and creating change. It can also take quieter forms of bravery, like living authentically, coming out, asking for support, standing beside someone, or choosing pride and hope in spaces where being yourself does not always feel easy. The colours in this year’s theme reflect the diversity of identities, experiences and stories within our communities.

This year, to celebrate Wear it Purple Day, Cardiff High School have a variety of activities taking place throughout the week as outlined below.
