An exciting week ahead!

Shout out to the senior PSSA soccer team who took to the field for the Crossroads Cup finals today after finishing the qualifying rounds in 4th place. The semi final was played against Edgeworth who finished first. After a close first half the team was down 1-0. The second half was a tough slog and the team was under pressure for the majority of the half. Unfortunately we could not peg back any goals which meant we were next to play Wallsend South for third. A similar pattern played out with the game close early into the second half with Southy trailing 2-1. As we tired the ball spent most of the time in our half and some further goals were conceded. The whole team can be extremely proud of the way they conducted themselves throughout both games despite being under the pump from quality opposition. They supported each other and tried desperately to come out with a win. Thanks to all parents who transported their children and others, encouraged the team and helped pack up the field. It is very much appreciated.

PSSA Netball Finals 2026 ⭐️

Today, both our Junior and Senior Netball Teams competed against the top four schools in the Crossroads Cup.

Both teams won their first game, meaning they were playing for 1st or 2nd place in the Grand Final!

Our Juniors fought hard in a game against Wallsend South, finishing 2nd overall. Our Seniors put on an incredible performance to secure a convincing win against Glendore and claim 1st place! 🏆

What an incredible achievement for both teams! We are so proud of the determination, teamwork and effort you have shown throughout the competition!

Earlier this term, a 39 strong Southy athletics team attended the Crossroads Zone Carnival at Glendale Sports Centre. The team performed exceptionally well and retained the handicap trophy which is awarded based on total points and the number of 3-6 students who attends each school. We had many successful students who qualified for the Hunter carnival being held on Friday 28th August at Glendale. Liam will compete in the 100m, 200m, high jump and long jump. Jaleerah will compete in the 100m, 200m, long jump and discus. Our senior girls relay team of Caitlin, Lexi, Ainsley and Jaleerah will race the best schools from the Hunter, Zara will run the 200m, Evie the 100m, 200m and 800m, Maxine the 1500m, Lilia is throwing the shot put and Ainsley will compete in the discus. We wish all these students the best of luck as they strive to qualify for the State Championships in Sydney.

Just a reminder that Year 6 students who are attending Cardiff High School in 2027 will be participating in Taster Lessons tomorrow. Students will walk to and from the HS with Miss Z and Mr J. We will return to school before the 3pm bell. Students will be unable to order their lunch from our canteen tomorrow.

Today, our Senior Netball Team competed in the NSW Schools Cup!

It was a fun day of netball, with the team taking on some challenging competition from across our region. The team finished 3rd in their pool, with some great wins and some tough losses along the way.

Well done to our Senior Netball Team! 👏❤️

This is a reminder to get your Book Week Canteen orders in.
Orders close at 2pm this Friday the 21st of August.

Thursday the 27th of August, the canteen will be closed to all but the Book Week Charcuterie Box special.
All pre orders on Thursday need to be collected from your child's classroom from 1:15pm.

Over the counter sales on Thursday will be available from 1:15pm. Products include drinks, ice blocks and packaged items such as chips and popcorn.
Soft drink is available to adults for purchase too.

NO hot food will be available to purchase.

Wednesday and Friday canteen is as normal with the addition of the Book Week specials. As Book Week specials are a special item purchase, they are not available for sale after the 21st.

FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT UNDER THE STARS

Bring the family and join us for a night of pure imagination, screening the Wonka movie on a 5m inflatable screen.

Location: 3 - 6 playground, under the stars

Date: Thursday 17th September

Time: 5:30pm open

Cost: $20 per family

Tickets on sale now via the “events tab” in Spriggy

Hot food will be available to pre order soon via Spriggy and will close 1 week prior.

A scrumdiddlyumptious snack bar will be available on the night selling popcorn, snacks and drinks. EFTPOS preferred.

PLEASE NOTE- Students and children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian and under supervision for the entire event.
