💙 CPS Playgroup – Dad & Me! 💙

This week at Playgroup, we’re celebrating the special people in our little ones’ lives as we get ready for Father’s Day!

Dads, Pops, Grandpas, Uncles and all those wonderful people who love, support and encourage our little ones — this week is all about you!

We’ll be creating a special gift for Dad, along with lots of fun activities, crafts, play and all our usual Playgroup favourites.

And even better, we invite you to bring along your special someone to join in the Playgroup fun! Whether it’s Dad, Pop, Grandpa, an Uncle or another special person, we’d love to have them join us for the morning and make some special memories together. 💙

💛 Our FREE CPS Playgroup is open to all children aged 0–5 years and their families.

⛳️ Sporting Schools Golf! ⛳️

Our students have kicked off their golf lessons with Casey Thompson as part of the Sporting Schools program! 🏌️‍♀️🏌️‍♂️

The students enjoyed learning some of the basics of golf, practising their swings and developing their skills while having plenty of fun along the way.

We’re looking forward to seeing their confidence and golf skills grow over the coming lessons! ⛳️

A huge THANK YOU to Rod and the team at Newmont Cadia Operations for their incredibly generous donation of laptops to CPS over the past few months!

Strong partnerships with organisations across our wider community help us create even more opportunities for our students. These laptops add to the high-quality technology available at Carcoar, supporting our students to learn, create, explore and build the skills they need for the future.

😍🌸What a sweet start to the day! 🌸 😍

This week, both staff and students were surprised with delicious pink finger buns, freshly donated by one of our wonderful families. The treats disappeared fast at our breakfast club—staff couldn’t resist coming back for seconds!

☺️🌈 Finding Our Calm: Exploring the Zones🌈☺️

Our Years 3-6 classroom has been buzzing with excitement as we’ve been exploring the zones of regulation.

The Zones of Regulation is a research-based framework that helps students build emotional intelligence, self-regulation, and positive behaviour through four colour-coded zones linked to emotions and actions.

This week, our students have been exploring how their bodies and minds work in each zone, learning handy tools to recognise what zone they’re in, and discovering ways to move back into the GREEN zone — where we’re calm, focused, and ready to learn! 💚

Highlights included a fun matching game and role plays, which the kids absolutely loved! It’s wonderful to see them develop skills that help them manage their feelings and behaviours every day.

Ask your child about the zones and their favourite strategies to stay in the green zone! 😊💬

🧸🧺 CPS Playgroup – Teddy Bears’ Picnic! 🧺🧸

If you go down to CPS this Thursday, you’re sure of a BIG surprise… because it’s time for our Teddy Bears’ Picnic! 🌼🐻

Grab your favourite teddy and join us for a gorgeous morning of picnic fun! We’ll have teddy-themed activities, crafts, stories, music with Mr Mac and plenty of time to play and explore together.

🧸 Don’t forget to bring:
• Your favourite teddy bear
• A favourite book to share
• A small picnic item to share with our Playgroup families

We’ll provide fruit and a few extra goodies too! Please make sure you know the ingredients in your shared item in case another family needs to check for allergies.

Our picnic is weather dependent – if the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll keep the teddy bear fun going at school!

👷🏽👷🏼‍♀️ Building Bridges 👷🏼‍♀️👷🏽

K-2 were posed with a dilemma in science last week - the big bad wolf had blown down 2 little pigs houses. The 3rd pigs brick house was still standing BUT there was a river flowing next to it and nobody could get through to the house!

We needed to build a bridge that was high enough to go over the river and strong enough to withstand weather (or huffing and puffing) and anyone or anything going over it.

It was wonderful to observe the creativity, problem solving, collaboration and team work displayed during the planning and building process.

Lots of smiles and cheers all round as ALL of the bridges were able to withstand 3 different weights. A successful mission! 🏆

Time flies when you’re having fun at CPS Playgroup! 💙💛

We can’t believe we’re already halfway through the term! We’ve had so much fun so far, and there’s still plenty more to come. 🥳
