Following on from our bi-carb rocket experiment last week, this afternoon Mr Mark took our science exploration to the next level with an exploding volcano experience!

The children eagerly gathered around as Mark explained how the experiment would work and discussed how different ingredients react when combined. Together, we made predictions and hypothesised about what might happen when the bi-carb and vinegar mixed inside the bottle.

There were lots of excited faces as we watched a giant stream of red, bubbly mixture erupt from the volcano and shoot high into the air! The eruption certainly didn’t disappoint and sparked plenty of discussion and wonder amongst our young scientists.

We’re not entirely sure who was more excited though, the children or Miss Sue! What perfect timing for such an experience on her last day before heading off on long service leave. We like to think the volcano was putting on a special farewell show just for her!

It takes a lot of patience and gentleness to guide a group of young people through quietening their minds and bodies in order to move and stretch through yoga poses, and this is something Miss Trish clearly has in bucketfuls!

And the way she has easily connected with the children in such a short time, and bought out an enthusiasm for learning Yoga is so wonderful to witness too!
