Hi Y'all! I've just been made admin on this page, so I'll introduce myself and ramble on a bit about Toastmasters to give you an idea of the benefits you can expect by "mucking in" with us.

I'm retired and have always wanted to do lots of things that I was too busy to contemplate before, and public speaking was on that list. The great thing about Toasties is that we're nothing special, just ordinary people like you who've challenged their fears and got over them with relative ease compared to what we'd expected.

Some of us like the competitive aspects available, with the opportunity to travel competing in national and international competitions, but everyone likes the social aspect more!

Toastmasters' catchphrase is "Where Leaders are Made", but it's also where friends are made, and they can be from anywhere in the world, from any walk of life, profession, or trade. It's a great way to broaden your horizons, meet new and interesting people, and enjoy doing it!

You mightn't learn to fly like an eagle, but you will get to see it's possible - even for ordinary people like us!

Are you good at having a conversation?

While you may have strong communication skills, is that enough to make you a good conversationalist?

Improve your communication with the tips found in the Toastmaster magazine article, “How to Have a Better Conversation.”

Toastmasters International - Talking well and conversing well are not the same thing. But that’s what a stand-up comedian does well, and you’d hardly describe an evening at a comedy show as a conver...
