Meaningful Moments with Miss Susma!

There’s nothing quite like the magic of a meaningful conversation!

Today, our wonderful Early Childhood Teacher, Miss Susma, engaged the children in rich discussions around colours, counting, sorting, and sharing ideas.

Through open-ended questions and thoughtful interactions, she encouraged the children to think, problem-solve, and express their own perspectives.

These moments help build confidence, language skills, critical thinking, and a genuine love of learning. We are so fortunate to have educators like Miss Susma, whose passion, patience, and dedication shine through in every interaction.

The children absolutely adore learning alongside her, and so do we! Thank you, Miss Susma, for creating such engaging and meaningful learning experiences every day.

Our weekly Culinary Class was full of Winter fun today!

The children enjoyed engaging in conversations about the Winter season before getting creative and decorating their very own Frosty the Snowman cupcakes.

It was wonderful to see their imaginations come to life as they carefully added all the special details to their delicious creations.

A big thank you to Miss Kaylee for providing such a fun and yummy morning for our children!

Our learning spaces have been bursting with creativity as the children explored painting through this month’s Creative Collection experiences!

Across the rooms, educators combined storytelling and art, inviting children to immerse themselves in a dinosaur-themed story before expressing their ideas through paint. As the story came to life, children listened carefully, engaged in conversations about the different dinosaurs, and shared their own thoughts and predictions.

Inspired by the story, the children then explored painting techniques to create their own dinosaur masterpieces. Through this experience, children developed their imagination, language skills, creativity, and fine motor development while making meaningful connections between literacy and art.

It has been wonderful to see the children's excitement as they used colours, brushes, and their own unique ideas to bring their dinosaur creations to life. We love providing opportunities where stories inspire learning, creativity, and self-expression!

A Special Visit from the Tooth Fairy!

Today at Green Leaves Cannon Hill, our children were delighted to welcome a very special visitor! The Tooth Fairy!

The Tooth Fairy spent time with our children discussing the importance of oral hygiene, healthy food choices, and how we can keep our teeth strong and sparkling. The children were highly engaged as they learned about brushing, flossing, and making choices that help support healthy smiles.

To make the experience even more exciting, the Tooth Fairy kindly checked the children's teeth and answered lots of curious questions along the way. The children loved participating in the interactive activities and discovering which foods are "tooth-friendly" and which foods should be enjoyed in moderation.

Experiences like these help children build positive attitudes towards dental health while supporting their understanding of self-care and wellbeing.

A big thank you to our wonderful Tooth Fairy for helping us learn how to keep our smiles healthy and bright!

This week, I began a very exciting project with our Kindergarten children, and I am thrilled to share that we officially now have a “Kindergarten Volunteer Committee!”

Over the past few weeks, I have spent time within the Kindergarten environment discussing what it means to be responsible leaders within our service community. Together, we explored how our Kindergarten children can demonstrate leadership, responsibility, and kindness as the leaders of our service in 2026.

This week, five of our Kindergarten children joined me for afternoon tea where we discussed:
- Ways we can support our families and peers
- How we can demonstrate leadership each day
- Ideas for our upcoming Breakfast for Families next Monday
The children excitedly brainstormed and drew pictures of possible breakfast menu ideas we could prepare and serve to our families. There were many wonderful suggestions shared around the table!
We also discussed opportunities for the children to take on special responsibilities throughout the service.

To begin, Miss Susma now selects two responsible children each morning to join me in the office. Their important role is to deliver each room’s daily plan to educators by:
- Knocking on classroom doors
- Greeting educators and children with a “good morning”
- Delivering the daily plans for the day ahead

I am so proud to share that this week we have already had many enthusiastic helpers join me on our morning travels throughout the service.

It has been truly beautiful watching our Kindergarten Volunteer Committee members step into these leadership opportunities with such confidence and pride.

I cannot WAIT to see where this project leads!

Thank you, Kindergarten children, for allowing me the opportunity to help support you in becoming the leaders of our next generation.
If your family sees our Kindergarten Leaders helping throughout the service, please say hello and congratulate them on the wonderful job they are doing!

🖤❤️💛💚💙🤍 At Green Leaves Early Learning, we’re proudly All In for National Reconciliation Week 2026 🖤❤️💛💚💙🤍

From 27 May to 3 June, we come together to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every day.

Reconciliation starts with all of us, including our youngest learners. Through moments of curiosity, storytelling, music, art and connection, children begin to build understanding, respect and a sense of belonging.

Because every small conversation, shared experience and learning moment helps us to build towards a more inclusive future, together.

Exploring Creativity Through Clay in Our Art Studio!

Our service has been incredibly busy exploring this month’s Creative Collection Project: Clay, and what an exciting journey it has been!

Did you know our service has its very own Art Studio? A dedicated space where children are encouraged to express themselves creatively, explore artistic experiences in many different ways, and develop confidence in sharing their ideas and interpretations of the world around them.

Our Art Studio is a transparent and multipurpose environment that has become a space for discovery, imagination, and meaningful learning experiences. Through clay exploration this month, children have been engaging their fine motor skills, strengthening hand muscles, experimenting with textures and materials, and embracing their natural curiosity through open-ended creativity.

Most importantly, this project has filled our studio with smiles, wonder, and joyful learning as children mould, roll, shape, and create masterpieces unique to them.

We cannot wait to continue discovering the world of art together and see where our creativity takes us next!
