π§π° CALLING ALL BAKERS π§π°
Yuma Families & Community of WVELC;
Next Thursday 18th June we are hosting our annual Biggest Morning Tea!
To support this we are asking for donations of baked goods to sell over the course of the day. This can be savoury or sweet - both are amazing - or any other goodies like preserves or jams.
If you are able to donate, we are requesting that these by brought in by WEDNESDAY 17th 4pm (at the latest unless pre-arranged). Please advise below what you are able to donate so that I can set up the Square Reader and posters to advise of prices.

Quick news from our Junior Preschool room!
It has been a busy month for our three-year-olds, who have been working on important fine motor skills, especially cutting. They have also been learning games with multiple rules and instructions, cooking, creating, and even making their own resources.
Well done, Joeys! Your creativity is truly one of a kind.

Our preschoolers recently harvested Jerusalem artichokes from around the centre and turned them into delicious fritters β Woden Valley ELC style!
We would love to invite our families to try making them at home too. Cooking together is such a beautiful way to continue childrenβs learning beyond the centre, while exploring seasonal food, gardening, measuring, mixing, tasting and sharing.
Jerusalem artichokes cook a little like potatoes, so they are perfect for fritters, roasting or adding to your favourite winter recipes.
If you do make them at home, we would love to hear how they turn out! π
From garden to plate β learning through nature, food and connection.

Itβs a winter harvest kind of day! πΏπ
Our preschoolers have been busy digging up Jerusalem artichokes and discovering pumpkins growing around the centre. What an exciting way to connect with the land, seasons, and the food we grow together.
Over the coming days, we will be cooking, tasting, and sharing some beautiful recipes inspired by our winter harvest.
Nature really is the best classroom. π

πΏ What an adventure at Birrigai! πΏ
WVELC children had the most wonderful day exploring, discovering and learning on Country during our excursion to Birrigai.
From the moment we arrived, the children were filled with curiosity, excitement and wonder. They explored the natural environment, listened deeply, asked thoughtful questions, noticed the little details around them and connected with the land in such a meaningful way.
Excursions like this remind us how powerful nature-based learning can be. The land teaches us so much β about respect, connection, sustainability, history, belonging and the world around us. Our children returned with muddy shoes, full hearts and so many stories to share.
A huge thank you to our incredible educators for supporting such a beautiful day of learning, care and adventure. Thank you also to our wonderful parent volunteers, whose time and support helped make the day possible.
And of course, a very special thank you to Birrigai for hosting us again this year and sharing such a rich, memorable and meaningful learning experience with our children.
What a truly special day. π
