Speak Up. Stay Anonymous. Stay Safe!!
At Caroline Chisholm School, we want every student to feel safe, supported, and heard. That's why we use Stymie - a free, anonymous online reporting platform that gives students a safe way to speak up about bullying, harassment, or anything that doesn't feel right.
No names. No judgement. Just a way to be heard.

Today, our JC students were delighted to experience Being Indy by Zoe Gaetjens and Estee Sarsfield, brought to life by Tony Bones from Books to Life. All students were so engaged in the performance and loved the interactive components. Through singing, dancing, puppetry, interactive games and digital displays, Tony shared important messages about inclusion, courage and celebrating our differences. It was a wonderful experience for everyone involved, inspiring creativity, kindness and confidence in our students โจ๐

Today our Kindergarten students celebrated 100 Days of School! ๐๐ฏ
To mark this exciting milestone, our youngest learners completed a fun scavenger hunt around the school, searching for groups of 100 while practising their counting, problem-solving and teamwork skills.
Thank you Miss Long and our amazing Kindy LSAs for all you do to support our students. Today, like every day, was a day filled with laughter and learning with some added excitement as we celebrated just how much our Kindy students have grown over their first 100 days. Well done, Kindergarten! ๐

These amazing students have taken part in the Women in Construction Program, developing practical skills, building confidence and exploring the many exciting career opportunities available in the construction industry. From hands-on activities to learning from experienced professionals, theyโve embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and determination.
Weโre so proud of their willingness to step outside their comfort zones, ask questions and give everything a go. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this valuable experience possible. We canโt wait to see where these skills and experiences take our future builders, designers and tradeswomen!
Congratulations to students from Caroline Chisholm School (pictured) and Gold Creek School who participated for the first time in the Women in Construction elective in first semester.
They were among more than 100 year 9 and 10 students (with the others from Calwell High School, Harrison School and Melba Copland Secondary School) who signed up for the Women in Construction elective for the first half of the year. At the end of term 2, staff and families joined the students for a celebration to recognise their completion of the elective.
Part of the overarching Understanding Building and Construction Program (UBCP) Try-a-Trade, the Women in Construction elective follows on from learning undertaken by students of all genders at participating schools in year 8. The aim of the overarching program is to create a community of prepared, confident and skilled students who understand more about themselves and training and career pathways available to them.
Australia is experiencing a growing demand for construction workers, with Master Builders Australia warning of workforce shortages in the sector. It has also reported that in 2024, women made up 13.6 per cent of the building and construction industry workforce, but accounted for only 3.7 per cent of those โon the toolsโ.
The Women in Construction elective aims to reduce barriers that prevent female and gender-diverse people from safely and equitably participating in the construction industry. It supports students to identify personal strengths, skills and interests, develop confidence and career readiness, and explore pathways in building and construction careers. It connects schools with industry to bring real-life learning into classrooms.
The program is supported by delivery partners and collaborators including the ACT Building and Construction Industry Training Fund Authority, ACT Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction, Canberra Institute of Technology and Workinโ Gear.
The 2025-26 ACT Budget included an investment of $1.4 million over four years to expand UBCP Try-a-Trade, providing opportunities for up to 250 female and gender-diverse Year 9 and 10 students in ACT public schools to take the elective annually. A second cohort of the expanded program will be delivered in second semester.
