Drive safely this Easter Weekend, and always :)
Heading away for the Easter long weekend? Or planning a Canberra staycation? Whether you're driving interstate or locally, please be smart and safe on our roads.
β½ If you are travelling, download and check the FuelCheck app to find real-time information about fuel prices at service stations across the ACT and NSW. Also, it is highly recommended to fill up when possible rather than waiting for your tank to be near empty. Keep updated on local fuel supply, especially if travelling through regional areas.
π Itβs important to plan your trip and take regular breaks. Plan to stop, rest, and stretch your legs to stay alert.
π· Leave your phone alone while driving. Road safety cameras are in operation in the ACT and fines apply. Drivers will also receive seatbelt infringements if anyone in their vehicle is detected not wearing a seatbelt or not wearing one correctly. This includes all passengers.
π¨ Reminder: double demerit points will be in effect over the Easter long weekend, from 12:00am Thursday 2 April until 11:59pm Monday 6 April.

Lanyon Drive, between the northbound and southbound carriageways of Monaro Highway, will be closed from 7pm on Friday 17 October to 5am on Monday 20 October, weather and site conditions permitting.
ACT - The ACT Government has provided an update on the Monaro Highway upgrade with an upcoming closure of part of Lanyon Drive.
Lanyon Drive, between the northbound and southbound carriageways of Monaro Highway, will be closed from 7pm on Friday 17 October to 5am on Monday 20 October, weather and site conditions permitting.
During the closure, there will be detours through the Hume industrial area along Sheppard Street to access Monaro Highway.
An alternative route for road users travelling from Jerrabomberra to north Canberra is to turn right onto Lanyon Drive at Tompsitt Drive and then use Canberra Avenue.
Drivers travelling south on Monaro Highway will still be able to turn towards Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra and Googong by turning left onto Lanyon Drive.
