Deficit discourse is a way of discussing or thinking about Aboriginal identity with a focus on problems or deficiency, and is influenced by ideas of race which often reflect negatively on Aboriginal capacities. This project explores the nature and prevalence of deficit in the discussion and consideration of ‘Aboriginality’ and the relationship between deficit discourse and outcomes for Aboriginal

This week, Benny Wilson and Melitta Hogarth presented on Strengths Based Policy Making at the Reimagining Education For Democracy Summit. The paper was very well received, with several audience members commenting on the quality and importance of the work. Thank you to Stewart Riddle, USQ, and AARE for organising an excellent conference.
