Ten years ago this week, we opened our doors in Kambah — and we’ve been part of this community ever since.

Since then, we’ve provided Education with Care for local families: a place where children’s ideas, interests and curiosities shape learning through exploration, discovery and connection. Every decision begins with one question: what is best for our children?

So much of that learning happens outdoors. Our natural play spaces are large, open and available throughout the day, and each week we walk together to the Adventure Playground. Our Walk of Thoughts follows the children’s own questions — and Bella, our centre dog, is very much part of the team.

As a locally owned and operated centre, our leadership team is here every day: visible, approachable and known to our families. We value the relationships built throughout each child’s time in our care.

Our consistent, engaged educators are more than familiar faces. They are co-learners, collaborators and trusted people in each child’s day — taking the time to understand their strengths, interests and needs.

That’s what local care means to us: real relationships, thoughtful education and a centre that is part of its community.

Celebrating our Urambi Community

At Urambi, we celebrate our centre as a community, a place filled with wonderful moments of learning, meaningful connections and lifelong memories that make Urambi the special centre it is.

As part of our celebrations, the children visited the neighbouring park to enjoy a BBQ prepared by Karina and Jo for the Bangu’s, Willes, and Walga groups. While these groups enjoyed the BBQ together, no one was excluded from the festivities! Preet prepared four large cakes for the whole centre to enjoy during afternoon tea.

When the children were asked about the many things that make Urambi special, their responses beautifully captured what our community is all about. They spoke about their friends, the games they enjoy both indoors and outdoors, the Urambi Café, their educators and, consistently, Bella the dog!

We are extremely proud of the learning, care, and connections we provide within our centre community.

These relationships are at the heart of Urambi, and we look forward to continuing to nurture and expand upon them as our community grows together.

Here’s to the wonderful people, moments and memories that make Urambi such a special place to learn, grow and belong.

Quality Area 2: Children’s health and safety training

Our Managing Director and Educational Leader, Joanne, recently hosted a Quality Area 2 – Children’s Health and Safety training session for educators across our three centres.

The session was facilitated alongside our Approved Provider, Natalie, and Quality & Compliance Lead, Sumi, with a strong focus on strengthening our shared understanding and practices around children’s health, safety and wellbeing.

The training covered key areas including:
✨ Active supervision and maintaining safe environments
✨ Risk assessment and hazard identification
✨ Children’s health, hygiene and wellbeing
✨ Medication management and safe medication practices
✨ Safe sleep and rest practices
✨ Incident, injury, trauma and illness management
✨ Supporting children’s individual health needs and medical conditions
✨ Our responsibilities under the NQS, EYLF and National Regulations

It was a valuable opportunity for educators from all three centres to come together, reflect on our current practices, share knowledge and continue building a strong culture of safety, wellbeing and continuous improvement.

A big thank you to all our educators for their ongoing commitment to keeping children safe, healthy, rested and supported every day.

Happy Educators’ Day
A huge congratulations to Hoan, who won the Golden ticket today and got to head home at 12pm! One of the Walga children had the honour of pulling the winning ticket, and the excitement in the yard when she pulled it out was priceless.

A Peek Inside the Wille Room!

Our Wille Room Leader, Puja, takes us on a little journey through her learning environment, sharing what the children have been exploring, discovering and learning throughout their day.

Puja talks us through how she thoughtfully utilises each area of the room to create meaningful learning opportunities, encourage children’s independence, and support their interests and curiosity.

From intentional learning spaces to open-ended resources, every area has a purpose — providing children with opportunities to investigate, create, communicate, problem-solve and build connections with one another.

It’s wonderful to see how the environment becomes the third teacher, evolving alongside the children and reflecting their ideas, interests and learning.

The future starts with us!

Sometimes appreciation can be as simple as a heartfelt thank you.

But behind every one of these gestures is something much bigger.....recognition of the incredible work early childhood professionals do every single day.

A close friend of mine once asked me, “What does an early childhood educator actually do in a day?”

It sounds like a simple question, but after nearly 40 years in early education, I know it is almost impossible to answer in one conversation.

I have witnessed enormous changes in the early childhood profession. I have seen the way we view educators evolve, and I have seen a much greater understanding of the importance of learning and development in the early years.

We know that the first five years of a child’s life are a period of extraordinary brain development. This understanding reminds us just how significant the role of an early childhood professional is because what we do today helps shape the future.

When I think about the wonderful role of an educator, these are just some of the words that come to mind:

Teacher. Caregiver. Joy-maker. Multitasker. Professional. Puppeteer. Storyteller. Inventor. Project manager. Participant. Creative. Designer. Adventurer. Humble. Mediator. Empathetic. Determined. Resilient. Advocate. And, most importantly, the advocate of the child.

Every day, educators nurture relationships, create environments that inspire wonder, listen deeply, solve problems, comfort, encourage, imagine, laugh, learn and grow alongside children.

And they do it because they believe in children.
They believe children deserve to be heard.
They believe children are capable and competent.
They believe childhood matters.

So, today, please join me in giving a massive shout-out to the incredible educators at Urambi ELC who work so hard, care so deeply and show up every day to create joy, possibility and meaningful learning in the early years.

The future starts with us and it starts with the children in our care.

Take a moment today to thank an early childhood professional.

A message: A smile or just a simple “I see what you do.”

Sometimes, knowing that someone notices makes all the difference. “A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind, and touches a heart.”

📚 Book Week 2026 – A Symphony of Stories

Children’s Book Week, led by the CBCA, celebrates the joy and imagination stories bring. This year’s theme, “A Symphony of Stories,” has inspired rich learning across our centres.

In our preschool rooms, children explored Once I Was a Giant, with Willle and Walga venturing into the park to discover trees at different stages 🌳 — bringing stories to life through nature, observation and play.

Across all rooms, children have been sharing and reimagining favourite books through role play, art, movement and storytelling, showing just how deeply stories shape their thinking and imagination.

Book Week reminds us that stories don’t just stay on the page… they are experienced.

At Urambi, we see children’s language, confidence and curiosity grow as they revisit and extend stories in their play.

This week also sparked an exciting idea across our team: 'a library atelier', a space where children can explore, perform and create their own stories.

Because when children engage deeply with stories…play becomes learning, and learning becomes another story.

At Urambi, we value these moments — reading, wondering and exploring alongside children as they make meaning through stories.

Because books aren’t just read… they are experienced.

The children were very lucky to meet Cleo the albino Darwin carpet python. One of our children and her mum brought her in for the children to see up close. The children were very inquisitive and asked lots of questions about her - what does she eat, how big is she and why does she look like a banana!!

National Simultaneous Storytime Fun!

Today, the children in Urambi enjoyed participating in National Simultaneous Storytime as Karina read this year’s story 'Luna Roo.'

After the story, the children shared their thoughts and ideas during a fun discussion about the animals featured in the teams and who they thought would make the best soccer players! The children decided that Dingoes and Emus would be the fastest, while Emus, Cassowaries, Dingoes, and Kangaroos would be great at kicking the ball. There was some concern about the snakes though… because they don’t have any legs! 😂

At the end of the story, Zariah excitedly shared, “That was awesome!” We loved seeing children so engaged, imaginative, and involved in the shared reading experience. 💛

🦎 Special Visitor in Wille & Walga!

The children recently enjoyed a very exciting hands-on learning experience when one of our educators brought in their pet blue tongue lizard, Crunch!

Before meeting Crunch, the children discussed how to safely and respectfully interact with him using gentle hands and quiet voices. They learnt interesting facts about blue tongue lizards, including what they eat and how they protect themselves in the wild, while also sharing their own knowledge and experiences.

The children were then given the opportunity to gently pat Crunch and even have him sit on their lap if they felt comfortable. This special experience supported empathy, confidence, and a growing connection with the natural world.
