Wonderschool Taylor - As part of our focus on Child Safety, Kindness, Wellbeing and Belonging, we read the book 'The Colour Monster' with children. Through this beautiful story, children explored how different colours can represent different emotions and were encouraged to recognise and talk about their own feelings.

Our children shared some beautiful thoughts:
💙 C: “I feel sad when someone pushes me.”
💙 S: “I feel sad when I don’t have lollies.”
💕L: “I feel love when Mummy gives me hugs.”
💛 X: “I feel happy when I’m with Mummy and Daddy.”

These conversations showed children beginning to identify, understand, and communicate their emotions, while also listening to their peers' feelings and experiences.

Inspired by the story, each child created their own Colour Monster artwork, helping the monster to “untangle” its feelings. Children sorted the different colours and placed each one into its own bottle, representing the different emotions explored in the story.

This experience supported colour recognition, classification, fine motor skills and emotional understanding, while allowing each child to create their own unique representation of the Colour Monster’s feelings.

It takes a village to raise a child, and educators are a bigger part of that village than they often get credit for.

They're often among the first people outside the home a child learns to trust. At Wonderschool, our Key Educator Approach means your child builds a strong, secure relationship with one educator who becomes their biggest advocate at the centre.

This September, as we mark Early Childhood Educators Day, we're taking a moment to say thank you to the educators in every family's village.

Wonderschool Throsby - Our Family Tree has become such a special part of the children’s day.

The children have loved finding their own family photos, recognising familiar faces and proudly sharing the people who are important to them with their friends and educators.

To extend this experience, we have created a Family Pictures Book for the children to explore together. It has opened up some lovely conversations about families, relationships, memories and the people who help us feel safe, loved and connected.

These simple moments help strengthen each child’s sense of identity, belonging and connection to our Wonderschool community.

Just like the branches of a tree, our families help us grow, support us and give us strength.

Where love grows, beautiful memories and happy children grow too.

📍 Wonderschool Throsby

Every family's journey with us looks a little different, and we're grateful when families take the time to share theirs.

Thank you to the Jess for these kind words, and to our Throsby team for the care behind them.

Wonderschool Throsby is built on Ngunnawal land.

Spring has sprung across our outdoor spaces. There is something different to discover every day: new smells in the garden, puddles after rain, shadows that move as the sun does.

Outdoor play is not a break from learning. It is where a lot of the best learning happens: curiosity, risk taking, problem solving and pure joy🔅🛝🚲

"Will anyone here actually know my child?"

It's one of the most common questions we hear from families.

At Wonderschool, we prioritise consistency wherever possible, with familiar educators who take the time to build meaningful relationships with children and their families.

Because when children feel known, understood, and supported by the people around them, they feel more confident to learn, explore, and grow 💛

Wonderschool Chifley (NSW) - Today our Wonderschool children headed to Pioneer Park in Malabar, ready for the Book Parade and picnic with Malabar Library. 📚🌿

Unfortunately, the event was cancelled, but that certainly did not stop us from making the most of our morning!

With the beautiful spring weather on our side, the children enjoyed running races, playing Duck, Duck, Goose and simply having fun together in the park.

The morning became even more exciting when we heard that the wonderful Malabar librarians would be bringing the celebration to us instead! They visited Wonderschool dressed up and ready to share stories, dancing and plenty of Book Week fun with the children.

Sometimes plans change, but there is always an opportunity for a little wonder. 💛

Today is Early Childhood Educators' Day.

Here is something families notice on a tour but rarely have the words for. A centre that feels calm is calm because of more than the building.

An educator your child trusts becomes what psychologists call a secure base. From that base, a child explores further, tries harder things, and recovers faster when something goes wrong.

That educator also knows the things that never make it into a handover note. That rubbing one ear means tired, not sore. Which song settles your child after lunch. That they need a moment at the edge of a group before joining in, and that hurrying them makes it worse.

None of that is written down anywhere. It is built slowly, by the same person paying attention, day after day.

Today we are saying thank you to the educators who do that for our children, every day, often without being asked.

Nurturing. Play-based. Purpose-built.

Every centre website says something similar, and none of it helps much when you are trying to work out which one is right for your child.

So here is what actually tells them apart.
🏫 Use the National Quality Standard rating to shortlist, not to decide. You can look any centre up for free on the ACECQA website.
🫧 Ask about educators before you ask about facilities. Who will be in my child's room, and how long have they been here? What happens when an educator is away?
🧸 Once you are in the room, stand still and watch rather than look around. Are educators down at the children's level? Can children reach what they need without an adult fetching it?
⭐ Ask what happens on a rainy Tuesday in July. Any centre looks wonderful on a still spring morning with the doors open.
