Paper Presentation Comp Recap 🏆
This years paper presentation competition has just wrapped up, and we'd like to thank everyone who put forward their work! All the way from semis to tonights final, insightful, informative presentations were given, but only one could take home first place...
Congrats to our 2026 Paper Presentation Winner, David Kim! His presentation on the duty to rescue won him gold, great job.
All competitors, including finalist Anne Kitt, did a phenomenal job at preparing their independent papers and delivering them before our fantastic judges, with Arabela Boatwright sitting for semis, and Justice Thomas, Deborah Manning, and George Ntor sitting in to judge our final. Thank you to all of our competitors, and our judges throughout all rounds!

Crisis Contagion Seminar | Guilty by Association
A crisis in one organisation can quickly become a crisis for many others.
Join us on Tuesday 19 May for a seminar with Dr Daniel Laufer, Professor and Head of the School of Communication Studies at AUT.
The seminar explores the concept of “crisis contagion” — how organisations can suffer reputational harm simply through association with another organisation facing a crisis. Drawing on examples from the legal profession, the presentation examines when crisis contagion is most likely to occur, the factors that increase the risk, and how organisations should respond. It also considers the growing role of generative AI and the increasing risks of “guilt by association” between similar technologies and companies. Presented in partnership with

The x Client Interviewing Competition is your chance to practise one of the most fundamental skills in legal practice: sitting down with a client, understanding their situation, and giving them advice they can actually use.
No prior competition experience needed - just curiosity, good listening, and a willingness to give it a go.
