Coming to Canberra College Performing Arts Centre NEXT WEEK, Mount Stromlo High School's Acting Techniques class present George Orwell's Animal Farm, adapted by Ian Wooldridge.

George Orwell's satire on the perils of Stalinism has proved magnificently long-lived as a parable about totalitarianism anywhere and has given the world at least one immortal phrase: "Some are more equal than others." The animals on a farm drive out their master and take over and run the farm for themselves. The experiment is successful, except that someone has to take the deposed farmer's place. Leadership devolves upon the pigs, which are cleverer than the rest of the animals. Unfortunately, their character is not equal to their intelligence. This dramatization remains faithful to the book's plot and intent and retains both its affection for the animals and the incisiveness of its message.

ACT public school students were invited to attend the Robocup Junior Sumo Competition at the Academy of Future Skills’ Southside Hub at Caroline Chisholm School in May. This event was a wonderful opportunity to hone robotics skills required for the Robocup Junior competitions running later in the year. Our team came away with the Sportmanship Award. 🥇 💫 🙌

This semester our two Hospitality classes have been completing their Hygiene and Work Health Safety competencies. The students hosted several morning tea and lunch cafes for staff! Additionally they had a week of work dedicated to International Women’s Day, where they made baked goods for the Lyra morning tea, and brownies for the school BBQ. Later in the term they cooked for the Badgers’ Mother’s Day breakfast then wrapped up the semester with a cupcake competition.
