ter STEAM employment outcomes for women and young people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally diverse backgrounds. With the essential support from our cross-sector partners, volunteers, Tuggeranong community, and our dedicated staff, our members have access to cutting-edge technology, industry mentors and a supportive environment that fosters their creativity and independent learning almost every week of the year. This includes our new recording studios at both our Richardson location and the Mura Lanyon Youth and Community Centre. Founded in Boston in 1993, the Clubhouse Network now extends across the world, providing 25,000 youth per year access to resources, skills and experience to help them succeed in their careers, contribute to their communities and lead outstanding lives. The YWCA Canberra Clubhouse is located in the Tuggeranong region, and is a space where young people can drop by to engage with mentors, embark on new projects, and learn in a safe, friendly and open environment. The Clubhouse learning approach is designed to empower young people from all backgrounds to become more capable, creative, and confident learners. At the Clubhouse, members can explore areas such as coding, 3D printing, photography, videography, visual art, green screen effects, music, virtual reality, and more. The Clubhouse also offers a free school holiday program during each school holiday period. Members can drive their own projects according to their interests and ideas, and the Clubhouse Coordinator provides support and assistance. Clubhouse mentors also engage with members by sharing their experience and knowledge. The Clubhouse really shows that young people learn best when they can work on projects that they are passionate about and actively engage in designing, creating, and inventing—not just passively receiving information. Structure
In term 4, 2022, the Clubhouse will be structured as follows:

Mondays will be dedicated to projects focused on engineering and technology
Wednesdays will be dedicated to projects focused on art and music
The following is what members can expect in a typical afternoon at the Clubhouse:

3:00pm – afternoon tea (fruit and filling snacks)
3:15pm – circle time for group bonding, announcements, and project brainstorming/updates
3:30pm – working on projects
5:00pm – working on projects with gaming and free play also permitted
6:00pm – Clubhouse closes

Open Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00pm to 6:00pm

Application and membership
To ensure the Clubhouse is delivering a high-quality program that aligns with the Clubhouse Network Learning Model and Principles of Practice, prospective members must complete an application to become a member. Membership to the Clubhouse is on a term-by-term basis with a limited number of places available. Applicants and current members will need to re-apply for each term. Applications will be assessed on their suitability for this program based on the Learning Model, interest in STEAMM, and prior engagement in the Clubhouse program. Priority will be given to young people who live or attend school in the Tuggeranong region. Equitable access is important to us, and we will do our best to accommodate all eligible young people. Applicants will be contacted in the last week of the school holidays with the outcome of their application. Successful applicants must complete a more comprehensive membership form to give additional information and consent. If we cannot offer a place, the young person will be added to a waiting list and contacted if a spot becomes available.
