The whole Wattle team is so incredibly proud of you for completing your Bachelor in Early Childhood and Primary Education!

Your dedication, passion, and commitment to growing as an educator and leader is something we admire so much. You have worked incredibly hard to get to this point, balancing everything that life throws at you while continuing to show up for the children, families and our team.

Thank you for all that you bring to Wattle! Your knowledge, your honesty, your humour, and the way you always keep us laughing. You may be blunt, straight to the point, and occasionally say things that make us all stop and think “did she really just say that?”…. But we wouldn’t have you any other way!

This achievement is so deserved and we cannot wait to see all the amazing things you continue to achieve.

When we think of superheroes, we often think of people who make a lasting difference in the lives of others. In many ways, this is exactly what Early Childhood Educators do every day.

The first five years of life are among the most significant periods of development. During this time, children are building the foundations for future learning, wellbeing, relationships, communication, emotional regulation, and problem-solving. Educators play a critical role in supporting this development through intentional teaching, responsive relationships, and thoughtfully designed learning environments.

Behind every engaging learning experience is an educator who has observed, planned, reflected, and adapted their practice to meet the unique needs, strengths, and interests of each child.

Our educators are advocates for children’s rights, facilitators of learning, curriculum decision-makers, researchers, mentors, and relationship builders. They work collaboratively with families to create a sense of belonging and ensure children feel safe, secure, and supported to reach their full potential.

They recognise that learning does not happen by chance. It is fostered through meaningful interactions, quality environments, intentional teaching strategies, and strong partnerships with families and the wider community.

While their work may not always be visible, the impact is profound. Every conversation, every question, every investigation, every moment of encouragement contributes to the development of capable, confident, and engaged learners.

This week, we celebrate the incredible educators who dedicate themselves to supporting children’s growth, wellbeing, and lifelong love of learning.

Because while superheroes inspire change, educators help create it.

🌱 Supporting a Culture of Reflection and Collaboration 🌱

At Wattle Early Childhood Centre, we believe that strong relationships and open communication are key to providing the highest quality care and education for children and families.

Over the coming weeks, our leadership team will be conducting individual “Pit Stop Meetings” with educators. These meetings provide dedicated time away from the busy pace of the day to reflect, celebrate achievements, discuss professional goals, identify opportunities for growth, and share ideas for continuous improvement.

By creating space for meaningful conversations, we ensure that every educator’s voice is heard and valued. These discussions contribute to our ongoing Quality Improvement Plan, support staff wellbeing, and help us maintain a collaborative culture where everyone is working towards the best outcomes for children.

At Wattle, we recognise that quality practice is strengthened through reflection, professional dialogue, and a shared commitment to continuous improvement.

We had the privilege of attending the ECA’s reconciliation week event at Birrigai. We spent the day connecting with community and deepening our understanding and knowledge of Country, culture and history.

✨ Excitement is building at Wattle! ✨

Tonight, our educators will showcase our first Exceeding Practice Projects for the year. Over the past two months, the team has been deeply reflecting on Quality Area One, exploring the exceeding standards, researching, and implementing innovative strategies into our practice.

This evening, they will present their learning to colleagues, an opportunity that not only supports ongoing reflection but also contributes to professional growth, both individually and as a service. Already, the impact of this project can be seen in the improvements to our programs, routines, and learning environments!

And to make it even more exciting, there are prizes up for grabs for our standout presentations! 🏆

These presentations directly link to our Quality Improvement Plan, highlight our educators’ professional knowledge, and demonstrate our commitment to excellence in early childhood education.

Professional growth is an important part of how we continue to strengthen the quality of our program and support children’s learning.

Recently, one of our educators took time to reflect on Quality Area 1 – Educational Program and Practice from the National Quality Standard. Through this reflection, he identified a personal goal to further embed purposeful and intentional teaching, particularly when engaging children in outdoor provocations and supporting physical development for our 0–2 age group.

By thinking deeply about how our youngest learners explore movement, balance, risk, and discovery, he is looking at new ways to intentionally scaffold their experiences outdoors, supporting curiosity, confidence, and developing bodies.

To build on this professional goal, he is attending the Active Play Learning workshop today. Opportunities like this allow educators to deepen their understanding of how active play supports early development and how we can thoughtfully design environments that invite movement, exploration, and joyful learning.

We look forward to seeing the ideas and inspiration he brings back to share with the team and the children.

Wattles annual lunar new year celebrations were extra special this year with two of our old children returning with Canberra prosperous mountain dragon & lion dance association to perform for our families. It was a beautiful evening of culture, community and food. We are so grateful to our educators Khandu and Karma who made the most amazing dumplings and Emma, Vanessa and Cathy for our amazing banquet of food!
