The following guidelines provide advice to ensure your wall posts will not be deleted. The Charnwood-Dunlop School cannot endorse any sites referred to by fans in any comments or discussion submissions. Parents please ensure you monitor your child's internet usage and check the sites they are accessing. Please make sure your comments are appropriate before uploading them
. Inappropriate comments could include:
• inclusive of photos of students or teachers (even with permission)
• inclusive of information identifying student or teacher identities and/or contact information
• off-topic or spam (posts that are considered ‘spam’ and all content that breaches Facebook’s independent policies and statement of rights and responsibilities will be removed)
• soliciting funds, goods or services, or advertising
• racially, ethnically or religiously offensive
• defamatory
• threatening, harassing or abusive
• obscene, profane or vulgar
• illegal or encouraging of criminal acts
• known to be inaccurate or contains false attribution
• infringing on copyright, trademark or any other rights of others
• impersonating anyone else (actual or fictitious). Principal's Message

Our staff work collaboratively as a professional learning community where we have high expectations of learning for all students and provide opportunities to extend and support individuals. Our Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL) approach to student engagement and wellbeing is a well-researched philosophy grounded in the idea that whole school consistent expectations are developed and followed by every member of our community. These expectations are supported by explicit teaching and positive reinforcement. Our school expectations are that all students are positively engaged in their learning, are safe and are respectful. These expectations are monitored and rewarded when displayed and celebrated across our community. An intergral componenet of our school is the Belconnen Primary Introductory English Centre (BPIEC). Eligible students attend the BPIEC to learn English for two terms before transitioning to their local primary schools. The inclusion of the BPIEC provides a unique and valuable opportunity for all our students to broaden their intercultural understanding, and to create connections and develop an appreciation of diversity in our global society. Students have many opportunities to learn and succeed at Charnwood-Dunlop School:
•A strong focus on improving outcomes in literacy and numeracy through differentiated learning including reading, writing and maths workshops
•Positive Behaviours for Learning to encourage high expectations for engaging in learning
•Integrated inquiry approach to learning using the
Australian Curriculum and Early Years Learning Framework
•Technology – all students from Year 3-6 have access to a chrome book; Junior class sets of iPads and Interactive Whiteboards (IWBs) in every classroom
•Arts program including Year 5/6 band, specialist Arts teacher, and recognition of achievement through ‘Artist of the Month’ awards
•We are part of the Ride and Walk to School and Fresh Tastes initiatives. Our school prioritises regular fitness, healthy eating and physical education
•Gifted and Talented programs including Magellan Program in conjunction with Melba Copland Secondary School
•Year 5 and 6 leadership programs including Student Representative Council
•ACT Rostrum public speaking for senior students
•Sports Houses and e-praise points system linked to PBL promoting positive behaviour, citizenship and sportsmanship
•A whole school Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)
•Celebrations such as NAIDOC Week, Harmony Day, ANZAC Day, Book Week and National Literacy and Numeracy Week recognised
•Community Dirt Bike Track – the school has a permanent professionally-built dirt bike track available for use by the students and the community
