The Canberra College Humanities: Philosophy and History was very fortunate this semester to secure former Canberra College student Hugo Ireland sharing his experiences of college, and transitioning to studying Humanities courses at ANU. He spoke to the team teaching Philosophy classes, and was extremely popular exploring Virtue Ethics issues all students, staff and active citizens can benefit from considering and engaging in learning.

This week we celebrate Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week, recognising and thanking our incredible teacher aides for the invaluable contribution they make to our students, staff and school community every day.

Teacher aides play a vital role in supporting student learning, wellbeing and engagement, and their passion for student success, professionalism and care make a significant difference in classrooms across our college. We are fortunate to have such a committed and talented team supporting our students and teachers.

While this week specifically recognises teacher aides, whom we know at Canberra College as our Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) and Technical Assistants, it also provides an opportunity to acknowledge the broader contribution of all our administration, and support staff. Every day, our administrative, operational and support teams work behind the scenes and alongside our teaching staff to ensure the smooth running of the college, support colleagues, and contribute to positive outcomes for our students and community. Whether working directly with students, supporting staff, providing technical assistance, managing facilities, finance and/or resources, or assisting our community, each member of our support staff plays an important role in making Canberra College the outstanding place it is. Lets also not forget our staff in the cafΓ© who create amazing meals, alongside the great coffee to keep us all going.

To all our Learning Support Assistants, administration staff and support staff, thank you for the care, professionalism and expertise you bring to Canberra College every day. We see you, and your contributions are deeply valued and greatly appreciated.

Happy Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week!

Monday 31 August is Share a Poem Day, a day to celebrate the poems that stay with us and the joy of passing them on, and remind one another of the power of words.
What poem has stayed with you?

TODAY WE CELEBRATED WEAR iT PURPLE DAY with our college Community.

Wear it Purple Day was created to ensure every LGBTQIA+ young person knows they are seen, supported and never alone. Every young person deserves to feel safe, supported and proud of who they are. Wearing Purple shows LGBTQIA+ young people that they are not alone and that there are plenty of people who stand beside them.

The Canberra College Pride Group hosted a BAKE SALE at lunch with all funds raised to go towards supporting at risk rainbow young people.

Last night Canberra College Mura Humanities PE with our families & our ACT P-12 Pride Network celebrated our support of "Everyone belongs!" (inclusion - respect - strength in our diversity for all)…& we came 3rd! (yay!!)
